Oh SNAP! Iraq soccer player slams Bush* for exploiting team in ad
http://si.printthis.clickability.com/pt/cpt?action=cpt&title=SI.com+-+Writers+-+Wahl%3A+Iraqi+soccer+players+upset+about+Bush+campaign+ads+using+team+-+Thursday+August+19%2C+2004+1%3A24PM&expire=-1&urlID=11378495&fb=Y&url=http%3A%2F%2Fsportsillustrated.cnn.com%2F2004%2Folympics%2F2004%2Fwriters%2F08%2F19%2Firaq%2Findex.html%3Fcnn%3Dyes&partnerID=2356

In those spots, the flags of Iraq and Afghanistan appear as a narrator says, "At this Olympics there will be two more free nations -- and two fewer terrorist regimes."

"Iraq as a team does not want Mr. Bush to use us for the presidential campaign," Sadir told SI.com through a translator, speaking calmly and directly. "He can find another way to advertise himself."

5. National Play? Only in Free Countries...not nations like Imperial Amerika
Don't hold your breath waitring to see this on O'Reichley or AEI Schneider.

3. Do we ever clean up our vehicles when they have been bombed?
Or are they left on the side of the road as art?

4. That's great that this is in SI
but I hope the sentiments of the team somehow reach an even wider American audience.

10. Sports Illlustrated is a good place for this to appear
A lot of beer-guzzling couch-potato white guys read SI. (Apologies to any DUer who reads SI and doesn't fit this profile). What I'm trying to say is that a lot of SI readers are the same demographic that votes heavily for Bush - middle aged white men.

8. No the freepers have turned on them
Instead of rooting for them now, wanting to play the US anthem with theirs at the gold medal ceremony now they are insurgent towelheads again.

9. Last I saw the freepers were saying to nuke them all
I don't recall ever seeing Iraq or any country in the middle east get any love over at FR.

11. The soccer team was big proof that Bush 'liberated' them
As per Bush's using them in an ad. Now they've turned on one of their big symbols of 'freedom'.

12. This is great, and I have even more respect for the Iraq soccer team.
They are disconnecting themselves with * and the worst things he stands for.

This really took courage on their part, and I salute them for it.
