Washington Post received records that dispute Kerry's detractors.
The Washington Post, through the FOIA has received records of Larry Thurlow that the swift boats were under fire, and he received his bronze star in the same conflict.

(snip)
But Thurlow's military records, portions of which were released yesterday to The Washington Post under the Freedom of Information Act, contain several references to "enemy small arms and automatic weapons fire" directed at "all units" of the five-boat flotilla. Thurlow won his own Bronze Star that day, and the citation praises him for providing assistance to a damaged Swift boat "despite enemy bullets flying about him."

If you read the entire article, you'll see that Thurlow claims he would claim his bronze star was "fraudulent" too if that's the reason he received it!

What's with this guy???

2. Note also that Thurlow's Bronze Star citation was "lost"
and he and the other Swift Boat Liars won't release their own military records.

6. Lost citation doesn't matter. WP got records from the Navy.
Why he lost his doesn't matter. The WP isn't taking anyone's word here, they got the actual records from the Navy.

It's pretty funny that he got caught and and had to think of some excuse to get out of it. IT's amazing that people will actually make false statements and PUBLISH THEM IN A BOOK, when there are records existing that can disprove them. Did these guys actually think nobody would check?

8. I have a feeling a lot of these guys are naive
They had their own little bubble, talking one another into believing their own lies, and it's just now occuring to them that they've walking into a free-fire zone.

Wait for the affidavit supporting the affidavit Thurlow already signed, saying he rejects his own medal now.

3. Now Thurlow wants us to believe...
that he got a Bronze Star just for coming to the aid of a damaged boat while nothing else was happening.

If you stop to help a pedestrian who's been hit and lying beside the road, that's assistance. If you run into traffic to pull them to safety, that's COURAGE.

They gave Thurlow the medal for courage under fire, and he knows it.

9. That's exactly what I'm confused about
As I understand it, he gpt the Bronze with a "V" (valor under fire as I understand it). Why didnt he question it at the time if there was no enemy fire?

4. So This Freep Idiot Had NO Idea Why He was given the Bronze star?
he is basically claiming that he never bothered to read the explanation on his own military records.

These Freep Vets are a bunch of liars. I just hope they keep opening their mouths and inserting their feet. It's just making the repukes look more and more unbelievable to the swing voters.

7. Larry Thurlow is confused.......
that happens during the "fog of war". It's disgusting that Bush would take advantage of this mans problems. He probably has post war snydrome, he doesn't even know what happened to him let alone Kerry. It's sad that instead of helping this man Bush just uses him to hide behind. That' sooo cowardly.
