7. Oh yeah, this will realy win us over
It is not your sentiments. Ir is a hard cold calculation:

Do you want to win in November, or not? Sometimes I think that many on DU would rather lose so that they won't be faced with governing which, surprise, requires a lot of compromise, whining, instead, about how the Clintons are to blame. And if not Clintons, they would find someone else to blame. All excuses except for behaving like adults.

We talk about a V.P. (not Hillary) who should complement the ticket. Don't you think that reaching to Hillary supporter and, yes, to her, should be part of complementing the ticket?

Unless, of course, you'd rather whine than behave like an adult.

33. You are the victor. You won the primaries, now show that you can win
the general elections. I am just for the ride. I will vote for the Democratic nominee, have been saying this for two years now but there were many Obama supporters who said they would not vote for Clinton.

Here is what I said when a DUer asked what would I, a Clinton supporter, say to Obama supporters had Clinton won the race

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=6251433&mesg_id=6251665

You fought a good fight. You believe in what you fought

your campaign brought up the best that is in our country. You showed that our party is blessed with having both a woman and a black can reach to the highest job in the world.

Now we need to unite and combine the best of both campaigns and supporters to take over the White House and Congress. The future of our country is at stake.

Senator Obama is young. No doubt, we will have a chance to learn more about him, and when he decides to run again, we will be right behind him.

Now, please, let's join hands together. Let's not look back at the hurtful things that we hurled at each other let's look forward to win in November.

(This is what I am hoping to hear from the Obama supporters. Instead my proposals have been met with a practical demand to cower and to grovel. People here do not understand that the magnanimous, generous winner is the first to offer his hand. This is also what we did with Germany and Japan after WWII).

35. My candidate didn't come close to winning. Obama was my next to last choice.
Nobody reached out to Kucinich supporters, and I didn't need them to. I didn't need my ego stroked. I didn't pout.

I understand what you say about a magnanimous winner, but the truth is that it's up to each person, and that person only, to do what's right. People shouldn't need anyone to be gracious, whether the victors should be or not. Their actions should be irrelevant to what people do in November. We are adults, not children. I'd be voting for Obama even if each and every one his supporters treated me like shit the whole time.

The choice is clear. There are times we have to swallow our pride in life...this is one of them (as almost every election has been for me).

23. We salute the Hillary supporters that support Clinton in supporting Obama
They're being good Democrats, and they know how important it is to win in 2008, and I welcome them. But, there are a few trolls stirring up trouble, and I'm tired of that. They are NOT Hillary supporters because they're not listening to Clinton at all when she says it would be a GRAVE ERROR to vote for McCain. Their lack of respect to Clinton in this instance tells me they're not 'real' Hillary supporters.

Besides, I don't think there are enough in that category to worry about. I think anyone who worries about such things are too susceptible to GOP bullshit talking points.

then by all means, let them vote for him. If they're voting based on the demeanor of message board denizens, well, let 'em go hang out on Free Republic and see if they prefer the company.

36. Don't bother talking about that. Just giving them too much to think about.
Let them recover and they will be fine by election day.

But keep pushing this topic and we may lose some votes we would had had otherwise. They just need a few weeks to recover. And don't forget that we haven't had a primary this long AND this close in history with strong candidates.
