Spinning like mad in Chicago: Jesse Jackson will sabotage Obama
I was in Chicago briefly last week, and I couldn't help needling
a law-and-order conservative (with all the Archie Bunker baggage
of that type) about the guaranteed fact that he will have a black
senator no matter who wins.

The Response:

"I will bet you that Keyes wins because Jesse Jackson, who only
cares about himself, will sabotage Obama. Jesse won't tolerate
someone bigger than him in Illinois."

Unbelievable, reflexive, spinning and very cleverly done - my
friend is not slow. Notice that the response completely avoids
having to deal with the fact that Keyes is insane. My friend manages
to avoid facing that unpleasant reality by holding a ten second
hate against Jesse Jackson, someone every L&Oer in the Wiindy
City would pay money to throw a tomato at.

How do you get through such intense bullshit? I give up.

1. Question for chicago folks
Did my friend get this line from some local hate radio station?
Are they pushing this spin on the local radio out there?

7. This crap was promoted after Obama's speech at the DNC.
The Sun Times gossip column tried to portray trouble between Obama and Jesse Jr. This was later retracted. I don't think that racists are going to decide this election.

3. "Come On.."
"Jesse Jackson regards himself as a national figure, not a Chicago or an Illinois figure."

Which is true.

5. Never mind that Jackson is bashing Keyes

Challenging BUsh to waste time on Keyes as a sign of "minority outreach"

10. Forgot about that...That was great of Jesse!
And as for that law and order conservative..they should be embarrassed to be represented by a hypocritical outsider flake like keyes. What's he ever done for Illinois?

And what would he do? Or is he just harping on Obama for not being Black enough?

6. I wouldn't worry too much about it
I live here and I haven't heard that one yet (though I'm sure I will soon). They've been trying to dust up shit between Jesse Jackson, his son, any other black leader and Obama for some time now. This is one of the reasons they chose Keyes to run against Obama in the first place. They are trying to divert focus from the presidential election, trying to create conflict where none really exists. Nobody here is really falling for it, though the racist conservative right-wingers are trying really hard.

Its also kind of amazing how much these guys hate black leaders like Jackson & Sharpton, isn't it? They must scare the shit out of them. ;-)

8. Sounds exactly like what they were selling
about Hillary and Bill trying to sabotage John Kerry. Just switch the names around, same story. I'm from the area and I haven't heard anything about Jesse trying to down Obama.
