16. I'm not worried about MN
There were scads of first time voters that showed up to my precinct's caucus. It was the first time the precinct's delegates were used up also used all the alternate spots. It was like that all across my district as well - so many new people there were two special "how to be a delegate" sessions.

All my non-political friends are excited about voting. And yes, they're all "anybody but Bush" votes. You can register the same day as voting here, of course.

Perhaps the burbs and rural areas are somewhat energized for Bush, but I seriously doubt they will turn out to vote in anywhere near the numbers as in the cities.

3. I'd say Wisconsin, Missouri and Florida
I'd like/want to win all three.

I'd expect Wisconsin the most likely

Florida seems to be trending toward the Dems and may not be as hard as we think.

Missouri will be close no matter what.

7. Florida, Ohio and Mizzou
are the most important for Bush for sure. If he loses any one of them he has to make up ground elsewhere. Michigan and PA are going to go to Kerry. I'd be surprised if Iowa or WI goes to Bush. I think Kerry wins if he can take just one of FLA, OH and MO. It is possible Kerry could win without winning onde of those states, but his margin for error would be nille. He'd need to take NH and WV and all the Gore states (and maybe NV too?).

11. Missouri
it has a tendency to be a bellwether, it has a lot of electoral votes, polls indicate a very tight race, and it is getting slightly less focus than OH and FL

15. Of those listed
Kerry absolutely needs MI and PA to win. He seems pretty strong in both states and barring a landslide will win those two states IMO.

Of course Kerry should keep all Gore states -- IA, WI, and MN as well. All three were close especially IA and WI. WI is worth 10 EVs. IA 7.

Of those states that Gore lost, OH (20) and FL (27) are probably considered most important, but there is probably some apprehension of FL regarding Jeb, electronic voting, and electoral fraud in general. Either way, Kerry has been leading there in the most recent polls (by 6 and 7 points).

MO is also very close and is worth 11 EVs I think. Gore lost it by 3 points and I think Kerry has a shot.

Some other states that Kerry has a chance in picking up are NV, WV, and NH. If he wins these three + Gore states he wins by 270-274 EVs.
