1. Well ahead. It's not even close yet. We'll see after the Repugs sort them
selves out, but I doubt any of them would come that close.

4. Interesting situation in WI
I don't know a whole lot about WI politics, but last month I went canvassing in Milwaukee for a couple weeks and perhaps the most interesting discovery I made was the handful of people I talked to who planned to vote for Russ Feingold (and often had a good deal of praise for him) but were either undecided on the Presidential election or planned to vote for *. Now, what would cause one to vote for Shrub for President while supporting the one Senator who voted against the Patriot Act simultaneously I'm still trying to figure out...

6. Wisconsin politics are horribly screwed up.
Contrary to what you hear, Wisconsin is not a moderate state. It is a state with a very large right-wing contingent and an almost equally large left-wing contingent. The swing area of the state is the northwestern corner and south of Milwaukee in Racine and Kenosha. Everything else is pretty well locked up one way or the other.

3. The Repugs have a three way primary
all of Feingold's potential opponents are pretty far to the right. I'm hoping his opponent will either be Russ Darrow, a used car salesman or State Sen. Bob Welch who is an ultra conservative. Either could be easily defeated imo. The nice thing is that the primary is in September so Russ has had a head start on these guys.
