Obama leads the party for two days and already hits two home runs:
Obama keeps Dean:

The Obama campaign confirmed today that Howard Dean will remain chairman of the Democratic National Committee, even as Obama puts his own stamp on the DNC.

"Sen. Obama appreciates the hard work that Chairman Dean has done to grow our party at the grass-roots level and looks forward to working with him as the chairman of the Democratic Party as we go forward," Obama spokesman Bill Burton said.

Dean has shed his lightning rod status in recent years and focused more heavily on building state party organizations a mission that gave him a base of support in the states and that matches Obama's plan to use his resources to keep McCain on the defensive in a wide range of states.

AND loses the DNC lobbyists:

It's been less than two days since he crossed the delegate threshold to become the Democratic presidential nominee and Sen. Barack Obama's mark on the party is already being felt.

On Good Morning America Thursday, ABC News' Chief Washington Correspondent George Stephanopoulos reported "the Democratic National Committee will no longer accept contributions from federal lobbyists, will no longer take contributions from PACs" in keeping with Obama's well-publicized policy.

53. Oh, damn. I remember reading that Claire McCaskill let Obama know that there were a bunch
of people watching them and that Obama might want to lower his voice, and that he apparently
had been unaware till then that they had an audience.

So I thought maybe someone had used their phone to film it.

Damn, I'd love to see Lieberman cornered like that. If anyone did happen to film it, I bet they'd get more
money for that than the alleged Marilyn Monroe sex tape someone's trying to peddle!

Obama Camp Hits McCain, Demands Real Campaign Finance Standards
By Greg Sargent - June 5, 2008, 1:08PM
Signaling a very aggressive effort to outflank John McCain on the question of who's the genuine reformer in the race, the Obama camp is already trumpeting the DNC's decision to nix lobbyist and PAC contributions as proof of his superiority on campaign finance reform.

The Obama camp sends out this strongly worded statement from Obama himself...

"I've sent a strong signal in this campaign by refusing the contributions of registered federal lobbyists and PACs," Senator Obama said. "And today, I'm announcing that going forward, the Democratic National Committee will uphold the same standard and won't take another dime from Washington lobbyists or special interest PACs. They do not fund my campaign. They will not fund our party. And they will not drown out the voices of the American people when I'm President of the United States."
Obama is openly asserting that the DNC's decision was made at his behest, an effort to project a sense that he's forcefully grabbing the party's levers of power and remaking it in his own reformist image. "John McCain has not adopted any such standards," the Obama campaign statement adds.

The question is, will Obama continue taking donations through barackobama.com which will be used for the DNC and the General Election or will that be shut down?

I'm positive this is a dumb question, but I just want to make sure that little money machine he setup won't have to be rebranded as something else.

Remember that the internet made this possible, and remember how fragile the internet is. Let us guard it, for if it is taken from us, the party of the people will go back to being the party of "other" big, special interests (just different ones than the Republicans serve).

For now ... happy days are not far away.
