By when do you think we will know who's our VP candidate?

For those of you with more experience with presidential campaigns, by when do we usually have a ticket ready?

1. Announced a week or so before the convention?

Dunno. Something like that.

2. Kerry didn't pick Edwards as his running mate until July...

So, I'm guessing in the next month or so we'll know who his VP choice is going to be.

3. It might be later than that this time.

Kerry was the presumptive nominee for a while and got to thoroughly vet some people. Obama's been the nominee for, like, 5 minutes.

4. Good question.

I have a notion it will be the week of the convention in Denver. Obama strikes me as someone who might keep his cards close to his chin on this one.

But who knows.

It might be interesting also to see how many Republicans turn McCain down. I think the Pukes sense that this is not a winning year for them.
