The more Clinton tries to strong arm the VP slot, the less likely
it will happen. Obama has made as a centerpiece of his foreign policy the willingness to meet with leaders of hostile nations. If he is perceived as having been intimidated by the Clintons into giving her the second position on the ticket, the GOP will ride the appeasement charge into the WH. The more I study Senator Clinton, the less impressed I am with her political acumen. A conciliatory, behind-the-scenes explanation of the strengths she would bring to the ticket could well have won Obama to her side. Publicly trying to leverage the job is counter-productive and destined to fail.

1. so true, this "tracy flick" mentality may end up being a blessing to Obama.
i.e. people will stop pushing her to be VP.

2.  I know we are all supposed to be on our best behavior, but I
have to say the Tracy Flick comparison is spot on.

3. Would we name a mad-woman Deputy-Cheif-of-Police just to end a hostage standoff?
She pressures instead of persuades.
She bullies instead of convinces.
She strong-arms instead of lobbies.

There's two different ways to present her case:
1) I think you should choose me for VP. I have strong support, 18 million votes, many superdelegates, high dollar donors and can virtually guarantee that I can deliver Arkansas, New York, and Florida.

2) I have 18 million voters on my side. Either give me the VP slot or I will instruct all of them to take this to the convention and possibly to a 3rd party or write in campaign.

The first way, makes a persuasive argument that Obama would surely respect and consider. The second way, invokes the image of a hostage crisis where all we want to do is get the hostages away from this mad-woman and get her into police custody. She will not be named Deputy Cheif of Police.

6. I know a good number of Clinton supporters will attack your
post as viscious but, sad to say, you describe her tendencies correctly. It is a shame that she has yet to take a step back and see the personal patterns that contributed to her failure on health care in the early days and the pathetic strategic decisions of this campaign.

4. Strongly disagree.
It's not possible to have a likelihood of less than zero.

7. she can't be VP. RNC already circulating her attacks on Obama
it would be pretty bizarre to have her run as VP when her comments are
put on You Tube by the Republican National Committee.

She doesn't exactly support Obama.

Clinton plotting for VP, recruited (has "authorized") Robert Johnson (BET) for launching campaign

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x6272350

Johnson has given seriously mega-mega bucks to the The Party. Hillary was his horse. He let Pelosi know it.
An attempted hi-jack by the party's money is underway.

9. Using one of the guys that slandered Barack is just one more
example of how tone deaf the Clinton campaign is. I have never bought into the Mathews suspicion that she was trying to assure an Obama loss in the General. Now I am not so sure. If she wants the VP, this is the dumbest approach to getting it imagineable.

11. Hillary and her surrogates' incessant lobbying will definitely push Obama away
I think he'd look elsewhere just to shut them the hell up.

And considering he likely won't pick a running mate for up to two months, that will enable enough time to pass that many will have gotten the Hillary defeat out of their systems.

12. agree with you 100%...and the desperate maneuvering is so blatant, who'd want a VP who
you KNOW acts like that under pressure?
