This was part of a letter sent to our paper in response to a gay man who wants the same rights as everyone else.

The person who wrote it says it's a 'christian's duty to vote for Bush'.

Yep, more fear than common sense runs rampant in my community. It's this type of shit that makes me want to move. I don't want people like this around me or my kids who uses this religion to moralize to the rest of us.

1. Personally, I'd go with the frogs, or
maybe locusts.

I say if you can move, then get the hell out of there! Life's too short to put up with this crap.

2. The wise words of Aristotle unmasks our pious president .....
"A tyrant must put on the appearance of uncommon devotion to religion. Subjects are less apprehensive of illegal treatment from a ruler whom they consider god-fearing and pious. On the other hand, they do less easily move against him believing that he has the gods on his side." -- Aristotle

4. Good Quote
In my life, I've only known a few gay people. One of those was a close friend I went to high school with that died of AIDS several years ago.

I was brought up very conservative, but the over-riding theme was for us do unto others as you would have them do unto you. The few gay people I do know are extremely nice and thoughtful people. I didn't see what was so bad about them. It never made any sense to me.

Part of the reason why I've pretty much left christianity behind was because I found more intolerance and bigotry than I did tolerance and respect. The hypocrisy of it sickens me and I don't want to be associated with it.

Their motto should be 'we're right and the rest of the world is going to hell'.

Cyn:)

Robert Frost would probably agree.

6. Why the fuck would it be a "Christian" duty to vote for....
...a vile criminal piece of shit who has broken at lest 9 of the 10 commandments in the last 4 years. (No evidence of adultery yet, but we trust that Scaife, Falwell, Starr and the rest of those "moral leaders" will investigate Junior's sex life as thoroughly as they did Clinton's, in the interests of Christian fairness, of course.
