Racism and misogyny on DU.
Neither side appears willing to cop to it, but there have been racist sentiments expressed by Clinton supporters, and there have been misogynistic sentiments expressed by Obama supporters in this forum. Call them on it and their heads explode, but sometimes it needs to be pointed out that mother-fuckers actually fuck their mothers.

4. is the calling always so broad brushed?
What about racism from Obama supporters? Didn't one of them deny the existence of white privilege?

5. If I have racist sentiments, I hope someone calls me out on it.
Seriously. It's the least I'd expect from DU.

6. Oddly, the rest of the world has picked up on the misogyny...but not the alleged racism,.
No doubt because the rest of the world is stupid.

9. Or maybe it's because the black candidate is winning?

What we *have* heard from the rest of the world is how happy -- and in some cases, surprised -- they are that a black candidate is winning in the US. It's changing the way they think about us.

Of course, that perspective wouldn't fit in with your agenda. I don't mean to detract from your message of derision.

One article from Canada doesn't support that statement. And neither does the comment from someone with a friend in India either.

It's ridiculous

8. I wanted the best person for the job - not necessarily a woman. After the way...
...Hillary conducted herself and her campaign, I eventually felt the best person for the job of President is Obama. It has nothing to do with feminism or her being a woman or him being black - it had everything to do with how they ran their campaigns and the VALUES and MORALS they espoused in doing so (especially since their policies are so similar).

I (and no doubt MANY others) just wanted the best PERSON for the job. If it's not the woman who's running right now, then it isn't. And IMO, it isn't. Has nothing to do with her being female. It has to do with HOW WELL SHE'LL DO THE JOB. And all indications are that she won't do it very well, or will do it too much like the current President is doing it and a LOT of people, frankly, do not want any more of that.

We want CHANGE. And many feel Hillary does not represent change in the way she's likely to run the White House/gov't. All this is why she LOST. Not because of sexism or abuse by the media. And I'm not saying there wasn't any against her or that there wasn't any racism against Obama, either.

I AM saying that sexism or racism (both of which do exist) has little to nothing to DO with why Obama is winning and Clinton is losing - though Hillary is trying to use it as an excuse.

16. There is NO denying it
This is a community of people, and in any community, a certain number of them will be racist and/or sexist. They exist, and the only reason they're still here is because they hide it well or don't cross enough of "the line" when they don't.
