Holy Joe Liar-berman is crazy, but he's not stupid...
...he's gotta know that regardless of the outcome of the presidential race, the Dems will pick up seats in the Senate. And he's gotta know that as spineless as Harry Reid, et al, are, they're gonna have to knock him off his committe chair because the outcry will be so great to do so now that they don't need him. He's hedging his bets, realizing his Senate career is pretty much over as he won't advance in either party, so he's angling for a slot in a McLame administration, perhaps as high as VP. Of course, the McLame administration may not come to pass, but that's the best he can hope for. And if that doesn't happen, Gover-nator of Connecticut, which is raelly lacking for state-wide stars (by that I mean name recognition) in either party.

That's my take.

1. I think Pastor Hagee has convinced him to believe in the Rapture
He's hedging his bets theologically, so to speak.

4. Joe isn't stupid, which is why he'll be having another change of heart when Obama wins.
He'll suddently become anti-war and hold progressive positions when he realizes that it is in his best career interests to do so.

After McCain loses, and he can't hold the Democratic senate captive anymore, he has to find a new avenue for his "Lieberman for Lieberman" ideology. That avenue is the newly dominant Democratic party. He'll pretend like he's always been in our camp.

Personally, I would help carry the rail that he rides out on.

5. I think it's too late for that...
...and I really do think he's bought into all that rapture crap.

9. I disagree. At his core, he is an opportunist, and the rapture silliness is one more avenue.
Lieberman has no issues. Only means in which to collect and execute power.

I don't know how else to explain it.

10. I recall reading somewhere that his wife was somewhat concerned
about how religious he'd gotten a few years back, more conservative religious that is. While he is an opportunist, I do think his nutcase beliefs are sincere.

7. He's already well on his way to becoming the next Zell Miller
Shifting whichever way the wind blows, while the Republican's play nice to his face. Go ahead and trot Lieberman out there, he'll do more to energize Democrats against him in the south and keep Republican's at home since they aren't too enamored with McCain (a "moderate") to begin with.

8. True, I gotta wonder if Holy Joe would help McLame in any section
of the country...other than the MSM, nobody is enchanted with him.

12. You know, when Holy Joe took a break in the 2000 campaign to
come back to the Senate for some committee meeting, Johnny was the one, and only one, he hugged. Hmmm.
