I'm looking for the word that best describes GD-P at this time???
Scattered? Angry? Victimized? Confused? Irrational? Arrogant? Hateful? Infiltrated? Divided? Revengeful? Protective? Accusatory? Burnt out?...?

Can you think of the perfect adjective or adverb to describe the present state of affairs?

11. "Frustrated" seems to fit nicely in a lot of cases...
But why are people frustrated? Could it be that there is a deep anxiety about losing the next election - no matter who we pick, Hillary or Obama? Of course, it is impossible to psychoanalyze such a diverse group as GD-P. But it may help to understand if we talk about what we are feeling? Can someone comment on Freud, please? :-)

7. Fun.
I'm enjoying the hell out of the combat between the DLClinton wing of the party and the left (sort of) wing.

It's long overdue, out in the open, and the gloves are finally off.

29. Left? The left is no longer represented in this primary
And hasn't been since Kucinich dropped out, and was only marginally represented by Edwards as to economic policies. Gah, if Obama is left...

55. In this case it's the perception that's making the difference.
I agree that Obama is hardly a leftist but, his major selling point is that he is acting as a proxy for the left in the ongoing war against the right.

13. Two words, but "Sports Fans"

Instead of being advocates for positions or ideals, the long primary process and the relative lack of substantive differences between the two remaining candidates has emphasized the candidates' personal traits.

Personal traits have a place in descisionmaking -- integrity, perseverance -- these are certainly reasons to be considered when deciding the person you'll vote for or against.

Unfortunately, we've reached the point at which these considerations have disproportional weight. Can you find an issue upon which the candidates have seemed disingenuous? You're not being honest if you say "no."

But these standards have been somewhat isolated from the republican side of the equation, and that's what has advocates for both sides complaining that they won't vote for the opponent of their democratic nominee choice.

If, after all of this is over, people can reset and compare the democratic nominee to the republican nominee -- both on issues and on personal traits -- democrats should do just fine in November.

If people allow themselves to be polarized by the process to the point they can't attempt a fairly objective comparison between the democratic nominee and the republican nominee, then it's going to be a rough four years ahead.

I'm hoping that after the dust settles, we can migrate back from being sports fans to informed voters.

On the bright side, there's still a long time between now and November. Even if we don't have faith in the ability of people to get past the current battle, the same sports fan tendencies will apply in the General Election. I think at that point, it will favor the democrats.
