Theresa - enough already!
Edited on Wed Aug-11-04 02:37 PM by Chango
I was watching CNN earlier, and they cut to Kerry on the campaign trail just as he was about to take questions from the audience. Suddenly he stopped and looked over at Theresa, who appeared to be moping on the sidelines. Then Kerry apologized and introduced her to make some statement on Health Care. She then commenced to ramble and mumble, and Kerry behind her looked mortified. Just as she seemed to have found her way back to the point, CNN tired of it and cut back to the studio, and on to other stories.

Is this much Theresa really necessary?

It looks to me like she is fatigued and put upon, so send her back to PA for a rest - please!

she needs a break, and once in a while it would be nice to quit her moping and whining. She doesn't need to be a detriment to Kerry's campaign

5. I really question the need to drag her everywhere.
She's not running for office and all the traveling can be pretty grueling. Same goes for John Edwards wife and his kids are too small to be traveling around the country on the campaign trail.

I do. They may have decided that the kids would enjoy/learn more from being with dad and seeing the country more than staying home with a nanny.

11. What was broadcast...
was that Kerry had an opportunity for a CNN cut-in for some interesting Q&A, and Theresa's rambling and mumbling drove drove them away.

And I'm sorry, but she looks quite haggard.

14. There are ways to say that Theresa looks tired and worn down
with sympathy WITHOUT using the derogatory tone and remarks that you used.

It makes me absolutely livid seeing the respect that is shown to our current leader's spouse and not see the same thing from our fellow DEMOCRATS for our nominee's spouse.

You are a Democrat, aren't you?

16. A post exactly like this one
(oh, it was THIS one with a slightly different title) appeared in GD. I alerted it for its tone and its disrespect for our future First Lady. The mods moved it over here (there's another one floating around over here somewhere).

My opinion is the same as yours. Only, add this: "What, you want Theresa gone so she can't keep showing up YOUR man's woman?"

To me, Theresa is a huge asset.

I saw a tired woman rambling and mumbling, and I saw a missed media opportunity for the candidate. It caused me concern that Theresa was being over-used over-exposed.

I'm sorry to have caused anybody to consider it. Now go back to your regularly-scheduled programming.

That was her style when she was a republican too. I thought during the primaries that she was a tremendous bore.

I registered as a democrat in 1976 and have voted for democrats in every single election since and I intend to do the same this year. Anyone that thinks I am going to take an oath to kiss either Kerry's ass can hold their breath waiting.

29. Teresa is a liability and she needs to zip it until Nov 2nd
I think the woman is a bit of a space cadet and she does not resonate postively with the average voter. Flame away, but she is a net negative. The Senator needs to have a heart to heart with her. This campaign is too important to have to spend days putting out her brushfires and giving ammo to the GOP attack machine.

How do you tell a billionairess to make themselves scarce?

I'm baffled by this thread, and find it demeaning to women and kids (Kerry comment). I find Tereza a breath of fresh air. More of the media need to be told "shove it."

Why all this wimpy "Stepford Wife" expectations of the FFL (future first lady) ???

36. I see her as hurting the effort to win
plain and simple. It's just politics. I don't care about trailblazing or redifining the first lady - I just want to to get AWOL out and I don't think she's helping. I'll critisize the campaign when it makes mistakes (like sending ill informed boobs out on national TV to get abused by the likes of Sean Hannity).

41. A liability?
Bushit! She is only a liability in the Right-Wing spin world. It makes me ill to see this coming from Democrats. Does not resonate with the average voter? And Pickles does?!?

I think this is the after-effect of watching too much sexism-laced bashing of her on the mainstream right-wing news. Instead of agreeing with them how about defending her?

Edited on Wed Aug-11-04 09:31 PM by bushwakker
I am talking politics and you are talking sociology. I agree with you on the substance of what you are saying but an election is not the time to prove some complicted point about the double standards in our society. Unfortunately AWOL's wife IS someone who is popular with the avaerage voter. Do I like it - no but I understand it. Teresa's spacey ramblings and sudden outbursts are hurting JK's campaign.
