9 days till we lose our chance at the White House...
Rachel Maddow predicted last night that we had just 10 days to officially choose a Democratic Party candidate, or we'll have no time to recover. I believe her theory is at least valid -- especially since it comes from someone as erudite as Ms. Maddow (who, incidentally, has scrupulously avoided endorsing a specific candidate).

So what do you think?

8. Her theory is that if it isn't resolved by 9 days from now...
...it's going to the Convention, and that means we'll be wasting months worth of time and money that we should be using to frame McBush. And that, Rachel believes, will doom our chances.

10. eh, we can multi-task.
I'm not going to lose any sleep over the doomsday scenarios.

I hope I'm right, because I don't see this being resolved next week.

23. No party has been able to do that in 40 years
Edited on Thu May-22-08 07:47 PM by IWantAnyDem
1968 - Dems went to the convention - Dems lose to Nixon
1972 - Dems resolved the nomination at the convention - Dems lose to Nixon
1976 - Republicans go to the convention - Republicans lose to Carter
1980 - KEnnedy takes it to the convention - Dems lose to Reagan
1984 - Merely a lengthened primary season where Mondale had to snipe Hart delegates to insure his nomination on the first vote at the convention - Dems lose to Reagan

Taking it to the convention is a certain indication that the party that does so will LOSE!

2. I think she has a very salient point...
and unless we are dumb enough to "snatch defeat from the jaws of victory" again, the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee should move to end the squabble (Hillary's fantastic claims) over Florida and Michigan, and the superdelegates should declare their intent(s).

Bill and Hillary Clinton stand ready to take the party with them when they go - and go they will, either way. I say save the party.

3. I think it will all be resolved in 9 days. I have quit worrying about it.
Obama's campaign is not worried; they've moved on to the GE. They've also merged with the DNC/Dean and are making plans for the GE. Those things would not be happening if there wasn't going to be closure soon.

11. Bullshit.
I'm sick and tired of elections depending on two states that we all KNOW for a fact are corrupt to the core. (PA would be a third)

We'll probably win Ohio in the general, unless Strickland adopts the DLC "No REAL Democrats can be allowed to win" suicidal madness and rigs the general like he did the primary.

We will NEVER win Florida, because the Bush Crime Family corruption in that state has more rings than a motherfucking old growth Sequoia.

We shouldn't depend on either state.

17. Oh, whatever.
The only demographic that's still supporting Hillary is women over 50 and white Appalachian racists.

Obama doesn't even mention her anymore, he's moved on to the general election and so has the rest of the country.

I guess since I've been so mean to you, you're going to vote for McCain. Whatever.

Obama is the nominee.

35. garbage. Maddow is being melodramatic.
The DNC is working hand and hand with the Obama campaign to put his people in place there in anticipation of the general.

Obama has started a vp search and hired personnel to accomplish that task.

It's been widely leaked that the the RBC has come to a decision that will not change anything. Dionne has an excellent piece about it this morning.

Axelrod has said that they have the necessary SDs on tap.

Hillary is in debt.

If after Obama gets the number, and Hillary tries to go on, her own delegates will abandon her for Obama.

Nancy Pelosi has stated repeatedly that the nom will be the candidate with the most pledged delegates.

And on and on. The writing's in day glo colors in big letters

36. I love Rachel, but this seems premature.
mcSame is revealing himself as a craven, flip-flopping panderer with no grasp on the issues in multiple ways every single week now. And the campaign hasn't even started yet! MSM or no MSM, mcSame will self-destruct all on his own. He seems to not know what he's saying, or what he said before, or what he should say later.

Rachel is the smartest commentator on the tube so I don't discount her opinion, but mcSame just seems so dumb, so out of touch, and so very, very, very old. Is the country truly hungry to replace the emetic bush with his clone? Why? Why?
