Hey Laura: BOOHOOHOO about your dad, but we need stem cell research
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/08/09/politics/09CND-BUSH.html

I heard that pathetic statement you made about your daddy who died of Altzheimer and how we still need to curb stem cell research about ethical reasons.

Guess what Laura: BOO-FLICKING-HOO!!!!
(and mind you I'm not that caustic about stuff like this)

Nancy & her son Ron Reagan Jr. knew that stem cell research would probably not help save Ronald Reagan since he was in the late stages of the disease and the guy was in his mid-90's. But they still push for this research because the know that there are hundred of thousands of people in this country who would benefit from full & unstricted funding of stem cell research. LIke my niece - 7 years old and has to deal with daily insulin shots because of her Juvenile Diabetes. I've read about the future she will have to endure because of this disease and I for one will push til the ends of the earth to help get the stem cell research needed not to alleviate her problem but to CURE IT!!!.

Mrs. Bush, you are an INSULT to everyone who deals with a family member who suffers with such diseases like Alzheimer, Diabetes, and a host of other conditions that could be cured if it wasn't for your husband's ignorance about stem cell research.

WE don't want to hear about how your daddy died and we could care less about your attitude on Stem Cell Research. When the wife and son of what your party considers "The Greatest President Ever" criticize your husband about his stance on stem cell research then you either need to shut the heck up or stand up to your husband (bush) inhumane stance on stem cell research!!

2. PREACH! PREEEEEAAACH!!!
I don't want to take anything away from the tragedy of Laura's dad's death from Alzheimer's, but she really needs to shut the hell up.

4. amen and allelia
Knowing that any research from stem cell would probably have not benefitted his father/her husband - Nancy & Ron Reagan Jr. still tirelessly preach the need for stem cell research.

The fact that the REpukes have an idiot like Michael Reagan speaking at the convention for their honoring of his Dad shows how little respect Nancy & Ron Jr. have for Bush.

5. Actually she need to be told:
STFU..

Who cares what that mindless twit has to say anyway? The fact that she married Chimpy at all, let's you know where her priorities lie.

12. OK, then I'LL do it.
I'll gladly take away from the tragedy of Pickles' dad dying. Know why? EVERYBODY'S FUCKING DAD DIES. Having a dead parent does not make one a moral arbiter or spokesperson for anything. If that's ALL she's got to give her any kind of gravitas on the stem cell issue, she fails. Listen closely, Laura Bush: you are not special. Shut. The. Fuck. Up.

3. Pickle Bush....GOP's Big Gun...
Next little bush will get his mother out of where ever she's been hiding...Mama don't raise your boys to be cowshits...born with gold spoon in his mouth...

I like how the bushes waited to send Pickles out to attack Nancy Reagan's stand on stem cell, AFTER Mrs. Reagan endorsed little bush.

6. I think anybody who believes it's about the "moral" question
of "when life begins" should have the choice not to avail themselves of the cure or treatment when they're developed. See? It's just pro-choice! So if Pickles gets Alzheimer's or Parkinson's or whatever, and there's a cure, she can still suffer and rot in the name of "morals." How's that?

7. They are going to lose this arguement.
Even many "pro life" I know here support this research. Too many of us have a family member or friend who has suffered from a disease that can be helped with this reseach. Baby boomers look at their parents and think we should do everything we can to help them and to make sure we don't suffer in the same ways.

Anti abortion people think a woman made her choice and now has to live with it. But, no one chooses to get some disease and they want to help!

8. The medical field today isn't interested in CURING anything.....
....they've not CURED anything in DECADES....it's all centered on keepin' you strung out on their drugs and *treatments* for as long as possible....it's all about the $$$$$$$$$ and not about cures...all issues pertaining to healthcare these days aren't aimed at actually helping anybody anymore...it's all a SHAM...as with most everthing in general across the board! :nopity:

9. why did you have to post that
and btw, you're so freaking right.

It would be in the best interest of the pharma industry to keep someone like my niece dependant on insulin for life than to have her get cured and no longer purchasing her medications

11. Sorry Lynne....my dad has leukemia.....
....and they refuse to give him a bone marrow transplant that would give him the best chances of extending his life...but because of his age...his insurance won't cover it...so they've decided to just keep radiating him with chemo instead....after this last relapse and the horrible time he had with the treatment..he's now decided if/when he relapses again...he's probably gonna refuse all treatment and just die...

13. Blame the insurance companies, then.
Although bone marrow transplant is not an easy treatment. Radiation & high dose chemotherapy are involved and a patient's age & response to previous treatment are pretty good predictors of how well they can endure a transplant.
