"Forty-one percent of Clinton supporters said they'd cast their vote for John McCain, ..."
Two-thirds of Clinton's supporters there said they would vote Republican or not vote at all rather than for Obama, according to the polls.

Forty-one percent of Clinton supporters said they'd cast their vote for John McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee, and 23 percent said they would not vote at all.

Just 33 percent said they would back Obama in the general election, according to the polls.

Congratulations, Kentucky! Why not just put a burning cross on your state flag?

1. This is why my opinion of her has now turned to hatred: She is silent
regarding her enormous bigot base.

Meanwhile, she's going around the country accusing everyone of sexism. I will never forgive her for this. EVER. She will forever be on my shit list.

8. How about those of us who
are Obama supporters who don't think we can vote for her in November? I'd consider not bothering to cast a vote in the Presidential slot, because I'd certainly be voting for other offices, and I wouldn't vote for McCain, but I'm not sure I could bring myself to vote for her. And I'm probably not alone.

38. Once again with the if tripe about racism
Just because Obama doesn't win, you claim racism. That is the single most pitiful argument/debate I have ever heard/read. Maybe, just maybe the voters don't agree with his positions, experience, character, associations or honesty. Stop projecting your guilt onto others, and btw, as a native american, that dog don't hunt...no one in this country has ever done a thing to me personally that was bigoted/racist or whatever and I don't presume to understand the hell that my ancestors went thru nor do I intend to demean their burdens by claiming that I am "owed" something because they were persecuted, that is the position of a weak mind and flawed character IMO.

39. k&r -- Yeah, such a service she's done our country: arousing the redneck bigot vote.
She doesn't give a shit for anything other than her own sense of entitlement.

Man, I SOOOOO want the Clintons and all their minions OUT of the Democratic Party! From the get-go, they and their pet monster, the DLC, have been nothing but destructive to what few shreds remained of the Dem Party of FDR.

They are just Neocons of a slightly different hue. They are an infestation of parasites who have been eating away at the host body of the Democratic Party for far too long. Like any parasite, they don't give a shit if they kill off their host.

If the Clintons actually prevail -- and I still think it's at least a 50/50 chance -- then, it seems to me that true Progressives need to do some heavy strategizing about how they are going deal with the Pod Party that will remain.

We need to stop pretending that the simulcrum that has been left behind by the DLCers bears any resemblence or relation to the Democratic Party whose Platonic Ideal is the image we hold so dear to our hearts. We have to look unflinchingly into the reality and start figuring out what we are going to do about it, instead of pretending it's not what it actually is.

This kind of shit is why I just can't get behind Obama.

It can't be that he is seen as weaker in foreign policy, or promoting too much appeasement of the Republican agenda. It can't be that he is too inexperienced. It can't be that he plays the middle too much in politics.

No. To some of you, every time it has to be because he is black. You have no clue how much you hurt your candidate with this shit.

42. Yes, because Clinton gleefully claiming the redneck bigot vote is so much more seemly.
I never wanted Obama OR Clinton. But I've known I didn't want Clinton since 2002. Why any true Democratic voter would want to put another DLCer in the White House defies common sense.

Did you never notice how many Democratic Congresspeople we lost when Bill Clinton was in office? Clintons and their DLC cohort are POISON to the Democratic Party.

Hillary doesn't give a shit about anything except her own ambitions and sense of entitlement. There won't be a Democratic Party worthy of what that name used to mean left once she gets done with her "campaign".

I'm only supporting Obama by default. He's the only weapon left to fight off the DLC and the Clintons. Not the weapon I would have preferred, but he'll have to do, and this is a crucial fight.

I just can't get on the band wagon. If he is elected, and I consider that a big if, at the moment, I look forward to 4 years of racial posturing at every criticism, like this OP did. To me, that is the worst of the Democratic Party, and we will be putting that foot forward as representative of the party as a whole.

54. Kentucky's Democratic Party has a strange history
I'm from Kentucky, and I'm telling you: a large number of Democrats here are basically DINOs and are usually easily persuaded to vote for Republicans. It has to do with the history of the state dating back to the Civil War where it was considered all but criminal to belong to the Republican Party after the war was over. So we have a lot of family lineage belonging to the Democratic Party, but largely agreeing with conservative Republican candidates.
