John McCain on Cspan-playing the Fear Fear Terror Card for Bush
Telling the crowd that just because the info was 3 years old doesn't mean anything, the enemies are waiting. Afghanistan free elections in just a few months (I thought the elections were postponed due to the instability there?). Iraq- going back to 1991's stockpiles of WMD, every day Americans fired on, allies acting like it was time to do business again with Saddam..... America leads, with privileges come responsibilities. WMD issue-believes he would have used those weapons, intelligence failure, every intelligence community in the world said Saddam had WMD.(I've heard this before, talking point- not true http://www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/actu/article.gb.asp?ART=40258 ) We can no longer wait until an enemy attacks us (that's scary, does he really believe that?)
Iraq government turned over to Iraqi people, they are now governing themselves for the first time, terrorists hell bent on destroying this. Comparing Bill of Rights to being used in Iraq (inalienable rights) and bringing democracy to Iraq.

I'm really glad this guy did not get elected president.

1. Its a talking point thing...
He has to stick to the talking points regardless of whether he thinks they make sense or not. He's not stupid; he knows better. He's just being a team player. :) Ida

3. Going through those talking points
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/3575881.stm - only 1.5 million of the 10.5 million eligible are registered. The elections were supposed to take place in June but had to be postponed till Sept for security reasons. Article comments that the election may take place in Sept, because of the US elections.

women said still oppressed in Afghanistan http://www.irinnews.org/report.asp?ReportID=39999&SelectRegion=Central_Asia&SelectCountry=AFGHANISTAN

http://www.womensenews.org/article.cfm/dyn/aid/1328

Do we really believe in the Bush doctrine of running around pre-emptively attacking other countries who have not attacked us?

The other countries wanted to FIND OUT if Iraq had WMD still-that was the point of allowing the weapons inspections to continue.

Since when do we nation-build? Is it our business to go around changing governments and spending money elsewhere when we cut programs here?
