Karl Rove advises Obama not to claim victory...says it would rub loser's nose in it.
Thank you so much, Mr. Rove, you outstanding citizen, you.

You are taking time out from such pastimes as interfering in Alabama politics

In the rough and tumble of Alabama politics, the scramble for power is often a blood sport. At the moment, the state's former Democratic governor, Don Siegelman, stands convicted of bribery and conspiracy charges and faces a sentence of up to 30 years in prison. Siegelman has long claimed that his prosecution was driven by politically motivated, Republican-appointed U.S. attorneys.

Now Karl Rove, the President's top political strategist, has been implicated in the controversy. A longtime Republican lawyer in Alabama swears she heard a top G.O.P. operative in the state say that Rove "had spoken with the Department of Justice" about "pursuing" Siegelman, with help from two of Alabama's U.S. attorneys.

More of what Karl Rove, the architect said to the Obama campaign in one of his three prestigious media positions which ignore his tainted past. He is "an analyst for Fox News and a contributor to Newsweek and the Wall Street Journal."

Wow.

Rove's advice

This month, Karl Rove, "the architect" of the last two Republican presidential victories, was on his new television perch at Fox News, offering free advice to Sen. Barack Obama as he closed in on the Democratic nomination.

Any move by Obama to declare victory before the last of the Democratic primaries in June, Rove said, would alienate Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's wing of the party. "That's a mistake," he said. "That just is rubbing the loser's nose in it. And a lot of those supporters will remember it by November."

The response by Obama's campaign?

In the Obama campaign war room in Chicago, Rove's counsel was taken with a heavy dose of salt.

"Wouldn't taking his advice be a little like getting health tips from a funeral home director?" said Obama's press secretary, Bill Burton.

Rove is going to be pursued by Democrats in the House soon. They have even threatened arrest if need be. Good for them. About time.

Meanwhile he is a commentator who is being free rein to give Democrats advice.

14. If he's smart.
It's enough of a problem for Obama that his supporters are rubbing Clinton's supporters noses in it. He must avoid any appearance that he is doing this, or instigating it.

Even if he's not worried about losing the votes of Hillary's supporters, if he is elected President he needs to maintain a good working relationship with her. She will still be a Senator, and he would rather have her support than not when he's trying to get his agenda enacted.

If he's smart.

34. Never thought I'd agree with Karl Rove
But I do on this. I think Obama's plan to declare victory before June 4 is a big mistake. If Clinton does not drop out next Tuesday, she could use his declaration of victory to stir up resentment in the last 3 states, making people feel like he does not care about their votes. This could enable her to do better than expected in Montana and South Dakota and pull to a point where she can keep claiming to be ahead in the popular vote, even if she has to exclude 4 states and misconstrue the will of the people of Michigan by supposing that not a single person there preferred Obama. Plus, it will just make her supporters angry. He's better off waiting two weeks and then declaring victory after it's all over on a night when he is likely to win both primaries instead of a split verdict.

ergo Barack intends to declare victory Tuesday having garnered the majority of the pledged delegates. Enough of this pissing around waiting for the cling-on, the last failed candidate, to pull up her socks and concede. Time is money and the General Election is upon us.

He's so used to getting his way with everything, never losing a single fight, that the part of him that knows a Dem will be elected in November is steering the rest of his brain. He'll snap out of it and realize he's a good Republican. Like Larry Craig the moment after orgasm.

It would be moronic for Obama to declare victory when he has not won.
Why piss in the face of opponents on your side?

Actually no one is declaring victory because the whole damn party is tippy toeing around not to offend her and her supporters.

But it is amazing to see people declaring him right.

Dean has said no one should be asked to get out....not a damn word here.

Others have agreed....nothing.

But hot damn let Rove say it and pow...he is right.

55. Dr. Dean
has done such a great job. I really feel terribly saddened everytime I see democrats disparaging him. The last 3 congressional special election wins can be attributed to his commitment to a 50 state strategy and running hard in all districts even if they are in enemy territory.

Most people on here don't understand he's only enforcing the rules that were handed to him when he got there. The rules written in party by Terry Mac to help for an early Hillary victory.
