So Tweety has stuck his fat finger in the air
and since the gale force winds have been blowing Dem, he's on board. Tell ya one thing: when Tweety's made up his mind, there's just no stopping him. Imagine if 6 years ago he had attacked the purveyors of the blatantly false WMD stories with the same venom with which he went after that putz last night?

But not a chance...the winds were blowing in the other direction and he wasn't gonna get caught with his pants down just in case all that blather was true.

I've enjoyed him the past few nights, but I still don't trust him...not one bit.

Carter.

Muskie.

O'Neill.

None of them, his former employers, were Republicans, after all.

Even noted that the internet is on fire over it and showed it three times.
Which he did good on.

He's still what he always was

37. Your analysis - 100% correct.
A fairly complex individual, given to emotional and usually inadvisable conclusions. I think that deep inside, he really admires most of the politicians he's met, in a sycophantic, boot-licky kind of way. He has his moments, though.

In PA and he'll probably do it as a Dem based on his history with Speaker O'neil. Expect him to be our biggest cheerleader this election. Bigger the Keith.

I plan on volunteering for his primary opponent.

Damn shame to look a gift horse in the mouth, but.....he's been egregious at times.

Tweety's hormones were raging.

He is a coward piece of shit and he's no hero for exposing a moron as a moron when there is no risk to do so.

Colbert is the man with courage, Colbert told President AWOL to his FACE that he is a miserable failure. Tweety doesn't have one-tenth of Colbert's courage or ethics.

15. Did everyone see Chris on countdown tonight?
It was so funny/strange seeing him act all sanctimonious about Bush conflating buzz words and talking about how the media is partly responsible for getting us into Iraq. He just acts as if he was so divorced from it, as if he wasn't one of their biggest cheerleaders! I know that he goes whichever way the wind blows, but it was still funny to see him try and pull it off all earnest.

19. I cannot state whether this is true or not
as in a reason for this or that (but in politics, it sounds about right).

The media bosses wanted to get legislation passed while Republicans had control of the exec. and legs. to deregulate and allow monopolies and all that.

the media see Bush's poll ratings and know the republicans are out of power this next election cycle. (this happened, remember, without them - it started with the mid-terms in 2006.) Media live and die by polls.

this week the democrats halted legs. the media wanted. now the media love democrats. we already know about media whores (I miss that blog) so I guess right now it's a matter of negotiating the price?

Seriously, if Matthews wanted, he could have booked an actual European history professor to provide some real context to the issue. Instead he books a braying jackass and then yells at him for being a jackass.

a hole in the fabric of time and came back in a paralell universe. The curtains were pulled back and NOW he can see what we've known all along? That language is a bullying cover and intimidation tactic to push a RW agenda on a mute public..

Well. If.. IF.. he continues to SEE, if he continues to tear down these bullshit arguments.. then maybe this truth will begin to penetrate through to America at-large.

And the Right Wing Reign of Terror will be, finally, over. The spell broken. Obama has started something, truly started something historical, world-changing, a new Era.

Edited to add: I'm speaking to his appearance on Countdown tonight :hi:

30. He has opposed the Iraq war since before the October vote.

Hail and farewell

Chris Matthews

Sunday, September 1, 2002

So I'll say it: I hate this war that's coming in Iraq. I don't think we'll be proud of it. Oppose this war because it will create a millennium of hatred and the suicidal terrorism that comes with it. You talk about Bush trying to avenge his father. What about the tens of millions of Arab sons who will want to finish a fight we start next spring in Baghdad?

Well, that's it for now. You know where I stand.

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2002/09/01/IN133269.DTL

And he has opposed it ever since. Some people do not pay close attention and become confused for example when he asks tough questions of his anti-war guests, or when he sometimes considered he might have been wrong in light of developments (usually fleeting). Other people fall to the fainting couch when he expresses admiration for a political flourish like AWOL's 'mission accomplished' PR moment which only became a fiasco after Iraq, the Occupation fell apart. It's scarey to think that if they had been more competent and lucky, then that prancing about in the flight suit with the protruding harness bit would be forever rebroadcast like Raygun saying 'Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall'. Instead it will be forever rebroadcast like Nixon saying 'I am not a crook'.

Any other issues aside, on the war Matthews proclaimed early, definite opposition and has stuck to it, including calling Ambassador Wilson immediately after Rove betrayed Valerie Plame to him, and hounding the Vice (so-called) President's office to the gates of felony convictions over, essentially, Iraq.

knew no bounds. Not a man to be trusted but I am glad to accept, even temporarily, any Dem positive talk from media personalities this election cycle after suffering through 90% of them slant EVERY story/report/program against Gore and Kerry.

Right now I see only KO, Tweety, Jon Stewart and Cafferty among the TV hosts who are at all positive for the DEM side. Could be wrong. Are there any others? I don't watch much beside KO on cable and simply cannot stand the CNN coverage of anything political.
