If Bush wins on November 2, $100 to the ACLU
on Nov. 3rd!! Who's with me? I've never felt this strongly about an election before. If John Kerry takes his rightful place as the next President, I will be on a high that can't be described. On the other hand, I'll be more upset than usual if things don't go the right way, because this election is so important. IF the unthinkable happens, I want to send a powerful message. If all of us gave $100 (or whatever we could afford) to the ACLU the following day, we would be helping and aligning ourselves with the social conservative/ religious right's greatest enemy. (I recently donated to them for the first time)

Of course, the most important thing is to win this election!! But if the rest of America votes puts the radical right in power...or they steal power...then it's time to get hardcore.

2. Sorry, but ...
That $100 is going toward moving me to either Canada or New Zealand should * win ... or otherwise remain in office.

3. Between now and the election, I'm giving to Democratic campaigns
money I would otherwise give to groups like the ACLU.

I will be supporting the ACLU after the election no matter who wins, but with Bush stacking the courts even more, the ACLU will be facing an even more uphill battle.

4. I joined and donate to ACLU...
...because of that sack of shit getting into "Da' Oval" (as he called it in the Unity Journalists rebroadcast I just watched).

If he "wins" there's a chance I'll be NewHampshireDem's neighbor.

5. Kerry's going to win but I'm glad you all are getting behind
the ACLU. The ACLU President was on c-span this morning..Timothy Edgar. And you should have heard some of the oxyrush ditto heads who were calling him .."you people" and all this really dumb stuff..when all they are doing is looking out for all Americans..

CAn anyone say Orwell strikes again!?

7. The ACLU..
god, how I love the work that they do.

A pet issue of mine is gay rights. I'd been a member of the Human Rights Campaign, but they seemed to be less results-oriented and more legislature-cenered. I'm a skeptic when it comes to legislatures getting things done for the gay community.

The ACLU, on the other hand, goes into these issues with all guns a'blazin'! Lawsuits, lawsuits, lawsuits.. if you keep firing at the wall, you eventually break-through! And the kick-ass thing about this: they WIN. They get good results all the time, despite the GOP stacking the courts for 16 of the past 24 years.

8. The courts
If Bush wins 4 more years, the greatest tragedy will be in his stacking the federal courts with religious-right-wing selected judges. God help us if 1 or 2 Supreme Court Justice seats become available and he's in office because The ACLU, as fine defenders of American civil rights, depend on the logical reasoned interpretation of the constitution by the justices. If we get another 1 or 2 Supreme Court justice like Scalia, we will all be in danger unless you're white, male, straight, upper/middle class and very, very Christian.

Gay's will just be the beginning, fascist like to pick the most vulnerable first. Women, ethnic minorities, non-Christians and anyone else the Religious right wants to target will be in danger of being relegated to second class citizens if these people are not stopped.

This will be the most important election in our life time.

9. Moreso,
it could well be the most important election in our Nation's history. If the unthinkable happens(Shrub wins), it will likely set a new standard for acceptable corruption we may never be able to undo, short of all out revolution. If this administration is able to hold on to power despite the damage they have already done, they will continue their unchallenged quest toward certain National collapse.

This may well be our last opportunity to right a sinking ship.
