BREAKING (from 2/1/08): Brett Favre Demands To Be Giants' Backup QB in Super Bowl

GREEN BAY - Brett Favre shocked the league today by issuing a demand to be installed as the backup QB of the New York Giants as they face the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII

"The Conference Championship loss means nothing...I have the backing of hard working, white football fans across the nation. The SuperCoaches must bow to my will and install me as the 2nd in command in the Super Bowl! Waaaaaah!"

Eli Manning, who led the Giants to an upset, come-from-behind victory over the heavily favored (and well-funded) Packers issued a short statement saying "I respect Brett and what he's done for the league and I do not object to his campaign"

In response, Favre replied "This does not mean I'm giving up trying to be the starter....I beat much better teams than Eli did and I am the best chance the NFC has at beating the Patriots."

Favre then turned the podium over to his supporters Donald Driver and Greg Jennings who displayed a number of charts comparing the two teams' seasons. They noted that the Packers' three losses should be discounted because:

1) Favre went out injured in the 2nd quarter of the loss to Dallas
2) The two losses to Chicago shouldn't count because it was very cold and, besides, Chicago has a lot of non-white, non-hard working players on the team.

Commissioner Roger Goddell could not be reached for comment
