Make no mistake, swiftboat vets = inventing the internet
Sure, if you watch MSNBC 20 hours a day, you know that the swiftboat vets are a bunch of Republican liars (redundant). But there is a whisper campaign going on in the purple states. "Kerry's purple hearts were for self-inflicted wounds".

Phonebanking two days before the election in 2000, "Gore is crazy. He thinks he invented the internet". I heard that over and over.

These lies need to be destroyed. The DNC needs to step up to the plate and address Bush's swiftboat pets directly.

Example:

"In a combat environment often requiring independent, decisive action LTJG Kerry was unsurpassed." George Elliot 1969

After Swiftboat veterans released an affidavit from George Elliot in which he suggested Kerry did not deserve the Silver Star. "It was a terrible mistake probably for me to sign the affidavit with those words. I'm the one in trouble here." Geoge Elliot 2004

None of the Swiftboat Veterans for 'Truth' were on John Kerry's boat during the events they try to describe.

"What these people have said is not true and a lot of it is grossly inaccurate," said James Rassmann, who John Kerry pulled out of the water during an ambush. John McCain called the attacks "dishonorable and dishonest".

However, the Swiftboat Veterans for 'Truth' WERE all angry that John Kerry spoke out against the vietnam war in 1971.

John Kerry volunteered to serve in Vietnam. The swiftboat vets all saw John Kerry in Vietnam. But no vets have come forward to say they saw George Bush in Alabama in 1972.

3. It also shows monumental disrespect for veterans
because ANY of them could be subject to a spurious attack like this. ANY of them -- it's just too easy to make unsubstantiated charges.

You're right though that it's all about 1971. The accusations about Purple Hearts is something they made up because they're mad about VVAW.

They're like highschool Heathers -- somebody stole their boyfriend and became popular, so in their fury they make up lies that she's a shoplifter or a drug addict or something else totally unrelated. Bad analogy, but you get the idea -- it's the same tactic, going after one thing by slandering with something completely unrelated.

5. Good analogy - they are all John O'Neill's bitches.
Can't you imagine John O'Neill knocking on their doors, or flying them to Houston to stay at the Four Seasons, affidavit in hand. "You must sign the affidavit."

8. And John O'Neill was Nixon's bitch
and now Scaife's and that FR guy's.

All veterans should be outraged at this.

7. My brother was on Swift Boats in Viet Nam -
When asked if he saw Kerry there, he said "No, I don't remember seeing Kerry, but I'm sure I didn't see Bush, Cheney or Rumsfeld."
