28. Actually, he may be coming around...

he said he would fight against a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, which is important because this could be on the ballot in November.

8. Thrilled but, and this is a big but...
It means CA will have a new initiative on the Nov ballot to redefine the CA constitution to say marriage is only between a man and a woman. Oy.

16. This will make CA a huge battleground state...
On idealogical terms.

Obama's position on this is going to be a big deal.

21. It means you're going to see an initiative
on the ballot in Nov. if those pigs can gather enough signatures.

19. W00T! Looks like our freedom rings weren't wasted!
The Freedom to Marry people have been selling resin wedding rings to raise money for this cause, and my GF and I have been wearing (also as practice for our own eventual wedded bliss). I cracked mine recently while I was cracking my knuckles and I was hoping it wasn't a bad omen.

Just so you know, this ruling will likely be challenged in November at the ballot box - 'pro family' organizations are gathering signatures for a ballot proposition which would amend our state constitution. So the fight isn't over yet.

Massachusetts type state, next thing you know, they will have marijuana clinics, liberal latte cafes and bistros.
