McCain...are you kidding me?
Has anyone actually watched McCain on TV lately? I think Obama could choose Fidel Castro as his running mate, and still clean the floor with this guy! I mean, come on! He's just a sad, doddering old man, who is obviously unhealthy. He looks like a strong wind would blow him over, his voice sounds like a little girl...it seems cruel to even allow him to run. I can't believe anyone is worried about him winning the GE. Once the public sees him next to Obama, it's over.

Watching him, I was reminded of that shuffling old man that Tim Conway used to portray on Carol Burnett, the one who would get his hand slammed in a door or somethng, and thirty seconds later manage to squeek out a weak: "...ooowww..."

Not only is the primary over, so is the GE. It's just a matter of going through the formalities.

1. I know this will sound snarky (and god knows I usually do)
but doesn't he sometimes seem a little confused about things he should know? I don't want a president having senior moments again (unless of course he manages to nap through them like Ronny did)

3. he does
He's never been a detail oriented guy, so when he's talking about things he's supposed to be good at like National Security, he gets tripped up. He has a general philosophy which he makes to fit certain situations, he'll try to fit a square peg into a round hole just because he thinks it should work that way. So when he's pressed on details at all, he doesn't make sense. It might work when somebody is just a senator and not every second is scrutinized, but he's campaigning every single day in the era of youtube and the internet. Not good for him. It wouldn't have been good for Reagan either.

35. You mean difficult things like the difference between Sunni & Shites?
:eyes: Yeah.. but no worries - this guy doesn't want to sit down and talk with any of them anyway.. no sooner the George does, so we're safe. Really.. we're REALLY safe with McCain at the wheel... god help us.

2. he's looked bad this year
Like all crippled up etc. And he sounds like he doesn't make sense, plus like with Elisabeth Bumiller, he loses his temper too easy. I don't think he's an overly strong candidate, especially with the winds going so against the GOP this year. Plus he is waaaay out of touch. He sounds foolish way too often.

7. Maybe he'll drop out before or at the convention and get replaced with a stronger candidate.
Barr, Paul, Huckabee, Eliz. Dole, even Cheney could be their unifying "at least it's not that McCain guy" candidate. The GOP are all about selling their product (and stealing elections), so it's unlike them to let their man be seen looking like a waterlogged corpse. It's fishy.

16. McCain's a throw away candidate.
The GOP knows they are going to get their ass handed to them in Nov. and picked the weakest guy on purpose so they can blame it all on him in the attempt/spin at saving face.

22. He also has the reputation of being a "moderate" -
which he is not. So they threw their oldest guy who is deemed "moderate" thinking maybe it would stick, and are saving their younger guys for 2012. You are absolutely right. If they were concerned before, they're terrified after the recent conservative congressional seats lost. They know it's over for now.

9. I call him McCain't. Perfect contrast against "Yes, we Can!"
McCain is 5'7 and Obama is 6'2. That's 7 inches or half a foot. McCain't may have to invest in lifts, although I'm sure the debates will be "sit down Style".....just so McCain't doesn't look too bad.

10. I always laugh at McCain's arm movements
Besides looking so fake, he looks like a short man with stubby little arms when he raises them forward to give a thumbs up or to emphasize a point. His campaign needs to tell him to stop doing that.

11. Probably not the most tasteful or effective way to criticize him.
He has impaired mobility in his arms due to injuries sustained as a POW IIRC.

19. That has nothing to do with it
Why can't he keep his arms to his side? I don't see other politicians doing that. It's like someone in a wheelchair trying to give a standing ovation. No need to make the effort.

McCain's POW pass only goes so far. I saw part of the Keyes-Bush-McCain debate back in 2000. When Keyes accused McCain of not staying true to the party's platform on abortion, he lectured Keyes that he's seen enough death in his life from wartime, so he didn't need more lectures. Um, what the hell does that have anything to do with his stance on abortion. Sorry McCain, but you need to get off the double-talk express!

30. It's not cool to make fun of his physical condition
We should beat him on policy and the right direction for the USA, not because he has physical handicaps or because he's grown old in the service of his country. He's a good man with some flaws, just not the right one for the job or from the right party for this job.

14. That he may be.
Yet, you're forgetting he's running on a dumbfoundingly-still-popular-party's ticket in the same country that:

* Tidal waved a similar near-senile old bastard former actor, fundamentalpatient, Armageddonist square like Reagone to two landslides,

* Elected his criminal, serial liar vice-president on the wave of that disaster,

* buoyed a shoebox-dumb Failure Fa Life like Bewsh with enough votes that made both elections close enough to be stolen, and when it was, the public collectively said "Ah Don't Care!"

A heavily partisan machine maker still controls this election. Overwhelmingly Republican wealthmongers still control pretty much everything else, including the media, which is trying it's DAMNEDnest to desperately keep that doddering old bastard afloat in the hopes Dumberica will be convinced of his leadership abliities. They know the cakewalk they got under Reagone and the Two Bewshes is very much in danger of being taken away from them. That's not to say they aren't still going to be rich, they just won't continue to widen the gap between them and us.

Many 2000 and 2004 "red states" are, sadly, going to remain red. Why, I don't know. People have been trying to explain that one for ages. Maybe they LIKE having their asses kept down. Maybe they would RATHER shoot their own feet . . . over . . . and over . . . and over . . . again . . . than elect a "sisseh Democrap" to office. Reagan and the Mainstream Media's demonization of our side obviously worked, because we're still trying to shake it to this day.

Personally, I wouldn't WANT to elect a leader that's blatantly going to waste my tax dollars on wars of choice while letting the wealthy and the corporations they run get away with pretty much whatever they want, as they have for the past 28 years. Personally I wouldn't WANT to elect a president who thinks free markets, free trade and job offshoring are good for America. Personally, I wouldn't WANT to elect a leader that doesn't give one shit about the crumbling infrastructure or the depleting environment.

That's just me.

Don't think for one second that this is "over", when looming over our heads are a bunch of rich people that want to keep this gravy train a movin' and an American public that doesn't have the greatest track record when it comes to electing leaders.

Doddering old bastard or not, he's still Republican and he's still a white guy. And that's really all he needs to have going for him.

28. No, I don't agree.
Reagan was tall, handsome in most people's eyes (not mine) an effective, if empty, speaker, gave an impression of strength and forcefullness. Not by the time he was through of course, but during his first campaign for the office. There's no comparison.

15. He stammers and stutters quite a bit and seems unsure of what he's speaking about.
Barack has a bit of an "Uhhh, ummm" problem but that seems to be because he considers every thought before conveying it whereas McCain comes off as a somewhat confused old man who has trouble remembering things.

18. I am actually amazed that more attention hasn't been put on McCain,
his delivery is pathetic, (most likely because his "message is essentially non-existent), and his gaffes would have been Front Page news if he was getting the scrutiny he should be getting.

Now it's "Change You Deserve"...what is that? The change the nation deserves is anything 180 from what we have now...I'd settle for 120, but the "change" McCain proposes is a change in th name of the WH occupant...other than that, he's bush's 3rd term, with an even worse attitude.

29. He does another thing too
that amuses me. If it has to do with his arm problem, I apologize. But when he wants to be forceful, he pokes at the podium with his finger, the way Pat Paulsen used to do. I'm waiting for someone to rig it so it collapses from the "blow;" lol!

Seriously, I do feel sorry for the guy, but he put himself in this position.
