I think there will be many...but will there be a quarantine? i can't wait till that is over..the convention...because I am anxious for the debates...anyone think the debates will really clear up some of the confused voters?

1. I think the debates is the one single biggest factor in the election.

Unless you consider the role of the lies in TV ads, which substitute for debate in this country.Used to live where I could watch Canadian TV..Anyone watch their election process..
Very few TV spot ads..The political parties were given so much time on national TV to present their programs and to do with what they want...Chats with party leaders, that kind of thing. Plus, actual debates..Like seven of them..Each debate would center on one topic for in depth debate...This format, a candidate has little ability to talk platitudes. One subject only for like two hours.
Can you imagine Bush talking two hours about Helthcare.
As far as I am concerned, US TV spot ads..I am King they would be OUTlawed..Just lies.TV spot ads...Just to hear lies and to think all the corrupt corporate money the parties prostitute themselves for to give us this privilege.

2. I have to disagree
the debates are where Gore went down. Boosh lied his ass off about "humble foreign policy" and how he believed our "troops were over-extended" and said he didn't believe in "nation building."

Meanwhile the media did a number on Gore for exhaling during one of Boosh's lies. The Boosh/media team is misunderestimated.

3. okay but wait a minute
a whole lot of us didn't get to see him first hand in Texas...but NOW many of us know he has done NOTHING in 4 years but screw up...so he doesn't have much to boast about this time or his promises last time went by the waist side...I think it will be hard..very hard for him to do any damage in the debates...

4. well, if you listen to some of the talk here...
it would be MUCH more effective if there were NO protestors in NYC...we should all make a statement by staying home and watching TV. You know, that ploy that has been so effective in the past. According to this theory, the effect of NOBODY protesting in NYC while the convention is held is a much stronger statement.

5. A silent protest might be powerful, though.
Imagine 100,000 people motionless, on their knees, with bags over their heads. Drag that out for a few days, and you have one hell of a protest.
