And the BIG WINNER tonight is....
JOHN EDWARDS!!!!!!!!

First time in history (I'll bet) that a candidate picked up 7% of a state's primary vote over 100 days after dropping out of the race!

Think about it - he hasn't been running for over 3 months and he got over a quarter of the number of votes in W. VA as Barack Obama, the "presumptive" (or is that presumpuous?) nominee!

It looks even worse from Obama's perspective - he only beat a guy whose campaign has been defunct for over 100 days by 19 points, while losing to someone the media's been telling to quit for the past month by about 40 points. OUCH!

2. Yup, a 41 point victory in a MUST WIN Swing state vs 14 points in a never win Red state...
...gosh, which victory is more important in November? Humm, I wonder.

3. Obama/Hillary are polling pretty well in that 'never win red state' in GE polls
I've seen several polls over the last month putting North Carolina as a dead even tie.

and exactly why Obama will win by landslide in the GE. Learn to think outside the box....evolve...

7. LOL. WV is a "must win" state? All 5 electoral votes?
It's amazing how much we buy into the spin.

19. Yep, and since the Obama campers have decided they don't need Florida or Michigan to win in November
...they really will need to turn a lot of very RED states Blue to win.

The 48 States of America, now THAT is CHANGE you can count on! :eyes:

23. You can blame that on Dean (DNC), not on Obama
They're the rules. Please don't go on on this bologna that Obama could just say "let's count FL and MI as they voted" and have everything just be peachy. It's utter BS and you know it.

Plus I don't buy for a second that these primary issues are going to keep MI or FL from going blue in November.

20. Gore would have won in 2000 had he won his home state
Sure 5 EVs are great, but they're not MUST WIN! Nevada, Colorado, Virginia, any number of other states can deliver those votes.

Again, I'm not saying WV doesn't matter, I'm merely saying it's not MUST WIN.

8. We are hard at work in NC trying to turn it blue
Please don't denegrate our efforts by calling us a "never win" state. It's not true. Just because your candidate cannot win it, does not mean it's unwinnable.

Did I mention we are over four times as large as WV?

21. Don't feel bad, I'm in a Never win RED state too, I'm just not delusional that somehow...
...the Democratic nominee is going win the Diebold State of Georgia this year.

Maybe in 2012, if someone in the Congress can force the issue, but not this year. We haven't had an un-rigged election here since at least 2000, if then.

MARK THIS POST, I'm ready to Call Georgia in the November election!

John McCain Wins the Diebold State of Georgia in a squeaker.

and it freaked party officials so hard they shut it down with zero delegates elected. Now they're looking to reschedule. Too fucking funny.

18. Wow, I have to say
He's not in our party, but I still respect the people who feel so passionately about him and I respect him to an extent for coming out against the war in a party that hates the idea.

Though many of his other ideas are dumb.

9. Wow..who woulda thunk it?
Now that we know that the Democrats only need to do one primary - in West Virginia - every four years to determine the nomination, think of all the money and time and campaigning that can be saved?

24. Look, if you weren't going to vote for a woman or a colored, your choices were limited
Edwards got the "Ain't a colored woman" vote.

And - yes - using the word "colored" makes me miss my grandpa.

Oh the West Virginia Hills
How majestic and how grand

I stared at the OP and couldn't believe it. Would he be so kind as to make some grandiose claim and base it on number.

Yes.

No it happens all of the time and is quite common.

Huckabee got 10% of the vote on the Republicans side tonight.

Don't you actually check anything out before you post it?

I have a lot of respect for John Edwards. But tonight's show benefited republicans more than anyone else.
