(CNN) — A top Clinton adviser this morning said that Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is open to the possibility of loaning her campaign more money to continue in the race.
Terry McAuliffe, the Clinton campaign chairman, told Tim Russert on “Meet the Press” that he spoke to Clinton about the possibility of contributing more money and “she said that she would be willing to do it.” However, McAuliffe insists, “We haven’t needed it.”
Russert pressed the issue, asking McAuliffe if the Clintons will be able to repay all debts after the campaign is over. “We plan on it,” he replied.
The Clintons have contributed a sizeable amount to Hillary’s campaign, loaning $6.4 million in just the last few weeks. The total amount loaned is estimated to be around $11 million, with the campaign $20 million in debt.

Meet The Press this morning that some undeclared superdelegates (among them our own Super-Deb) are none too happy with Senator Clinton’s recent behavior, and McAuliffe incredibly responded by saying neither race nor gender ought to be talked about:
MR. RUSSERT: Many undeclared superdelegates are obviously listening to this discussion…
MR. McAULIFFE: Yeah, sure.
MR. RUSSERT: …and to the debate that’s been going on. Here’s a report from the New York Post: “Hillary Rodham Clinton played the race card as she dismissed Barack Obama as a candidate who can’t win support from `white Americans.’ … The `white Americans’ remark drew a swift rebuke from some superdelegates, and private dismay from several Democratic” party “officials who said they’re concerned about reuniting the factionalized party. Muriel Offerman, a North Carolina superdelegate who has not disclosed her choice, said: `That should not have been said. I think it drives a wedge, a racial wedge, that’s not what the Democratic Party’s about.’ … Massachusetts superdelegate Debra Kozikowski said: `That’s distressing. … I’m not even sure how to respond to that. I’d like to think that it was not intended to be what it sounds” “but… it” “sounds like trying to split the country down the middle.’” Those are undeclared superdelegates responding to Hillary comments about race.
MR. McAULIFFE: And you know what? I can put up 30, 40 more superdelegates who will say, you know, talk about what the Clintons have done on the race issue. First of all, I hate that even race is even in the–we should not have it. We shouldn’t have race, we shouldn’t have gender
Also interesting was how Russert nailed McAuliffe over the double standard by which he criticizes current DNC chairman Howard Dean for not seating the Michigan and Florida delegates when, as DNC chair, McAuliffe himself did the same thing. McAuliffe defended that he only cut Michigan’s delegation by 50 percent, so Russert pushed him and asked if the same solution would be acceptable to him and the Clinton campaign this year:

During a recent Ohio debate, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., cited an SNL skit mocking media adulation of Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., to make the argument that there had been a media double-standard.

Ouch!
Has Hillary delivered a full, no spin, direct apology during this campaign? She didn't on her Bosnia lie. She hasn't on NAFTA. She hasn't said a thing about her
racially insensitive comments that's are
causing a stir.
Here is how she responded when asked about her "obliterate" comment:
“Why would I have any regrets?” she said. “I'm asked a question about what I would do if Iran attacked our ally, a country that many of us have a great deal of, you know, connection with and feeling for, for all kinds of reasons. And, yes, we would have massive retaliation against Iran. I don't think they will do that, but I sure want to make it abundantly clear to them that they would face a tremendous cost if they did such a thing.”

interesting CBS interview, in which he basically tells Clinton it's over, and warns her against negative campaigning.

He also notes, with some amusement, that he was wrong that his withdrawal would help settle things.
