Isn't it Terrorism to hype/use Terror Alerts for political gains?
I see the wisdom of Howard Dean's brave comment on CNN Wolf Blitzer interview today: Essentially saying *bush has made terror a political issue; using the military as a background of almost every speech and stumping his rhetoric "fear and terror fight cheer" at each and every speech since 911.

These timely Alerts are just too damn timely......I feel terrorized by *bush! Thats a crime...right?...To insight terror....

1. Which would be the right time for a terror alert?
Just wondering.

2. When the threat was truely imminate.
Like....pull the fire alarm when there is a fire. We have no direction with these alerts.........its speculative and empty.

4. Agreed
I can't imagine what good a broadcast terror alert is meant to anyway. It's not like the gov't is going to do anyything any differently just because they announced an alert.

Seems pretty pointless unless the idea is precisely to keep people agitated.

6. Agreed....it so far has only terrorized Americans....
We new the Y2K thing was a potiential terror event and we didn't need any 24/7 political terror alert or picture/color book to keep us any safer.

We always know to "watch out" for bizzar behaviors.....Yes, I'm agitiated.....these Alerts are now a political tool to defocus the media pundits.....

Amber Alerts are so much more real.....and effective.

9. the GOP said they wanted to announce since there will be much
more security around and more searches etc. This makes sense to stop rumors.

Maybe they hope the NYPD will be so tired working 6-12's a week they'll forget their "sick out"

i just don't get it either....

5. September 10, 2001 would have been nice.
And since Bush had an overwhelming amount of information about the upcoming attacks it would have been sensible, honest and honorable. So Bush didn't do it.

7. How do they know the "where" and not the "who"?
Seems to me that they've tipped the terrorists off. Now, while all this security is focused on the locations this administration broadcasted today, if I was a terrorist, I'd be looking at alternate targets to hit.

I hope Kerry requests a review of the evidence....since this administration knows terrorism is non-partisan, I'm sure they'd show John what the evidence is that is driving this alert....right?

10. It's the definition of terror --
Death and destruction are tools of terror, but my understanding of the definition of terror is manipulation of a people into a state of perpetual fear, for a political purpose.
