Hillary's PowerPoint sales pitch being emailed to all House Dems
Hillary Campaign Emails Out "Electability" Power-Point To All House Dems
By Greg Sargent - May 9, 2008, 11:27AM

Stepping up its efforts to push her case with super-dels and party leaders, the Hillary campaign is emailing out a Power-Point presentation to all Dems in the House touting her electability and her ability to carry tough swing districts.

You can view the Power-Point in our TPM Document Collection.

The gist of the argument is that Hillary has beaten Obama in the vast majority of tough red-leaning House districts, and has consistently outperformed him among key demographics -- seniors, Hispanics, and rural voters.

Go see the PowerPoint slides here and read the rest:

Hillary: "Thank you and have a good day."

DU Obama nuts: Day? Translation: Day as opposed to night, white vs black. She could have said have a good night, but no, she said day, which is code for white to her racist inbred base...

Is there a real reason she'd have to win those? Is New York all of a sudden going Republican this year?

18. No, she doesn't. Because her argument is based on the past, not the future.
Fine, she did well in the districts she mentions. No argument there. But the implication is that Obama can never win them even if he campaigns for the next 6 months. Basically she's saying that every district she won would go red if Obama were the nominee, and that McCain would just gain her whole demographic.

59. It's actually a pretty interesting point to make to specifically elected officials.
Hillary can win in the tough districts is implying:
- Hillary can help the Dems retain these seats
- Hillary in the GE can therefore help the Dems retain control of congress.

However, it's really weird, because she's trying to say she has coattails, but around here, almost every single elected official, and HEAPS of candidates, threw their lot in with Obama. They must not agree.

This is the stupidest power point I've ever seen, unless she's trying to get him elected immediately. She obviously should get 9% of the supers in the House, if that's her point.

Only people over 50, Hispanics & Rural Voters. Younger newer voters, college kids, "urban" voters, highly educated voters - those really have nothing to do with winning in November. Just the old white ladies who toodle to the polls - there is evidently more then enough of them to push Clinton over the edge.. even though there isn't even enough of them for her to win the primarys. :eyes:

Her assessment is dishonest. The primary season is very different than the General Election

If the Republicans have the gift of running against two Clintons, all hell will break loose for the Democrats. We would lose not only the White House but so many races down the ticket...

It reminded me of a Mayor race in Philadelphia years ago. An intelligent, well-educated African American (Wilson Goode) was running for Mayor. His Democratic opponent put up signs saying that he was "The Taxpayers' Democrat." In other words, Goode was only going to represent those welfare cheats drivin' those Cadilacs.

This slideshow is appalling, in every aspect. The message is ridiculous and convoluted, the execution is poor, and the attempt to sway supers is just pathetic.

Slide 1: "Winning in the Tough Districts." Very ugly graphics. And does she really mean tough? Or is the correct description "right-leaning?"

Slide 2: Hillary is the strongest candidate to top the ticket in tough districts - but not in the DEMOCRATIC districts, apparently, or she wouldn't be LOSING.

Slide 3: Is "retook" a word?

Slide 4: So it's some sort of surprise that Miss DLC won over Obama in these Republican districts?

Slide 5: "Old People Like Me"

Slide 6: The jpeg of the graph is overlapping the text. You don't get much for $10M a month from Mark Penn's office, apparently.

Slide 7: Same error! Has the Clinton campaign never heard of proofreading? Sloppy sloppy sloppy. And what is her argument exactly?

Slide 8: Again! Image is overlapping text so it's not even readable. And she's the competent one?

Slide 9: Conclusion. Hillary is the candidate who can't even get a decent PowerPoint out of her many high priced consultants. The logic is nonsensical and the design is amateurish.

57. if you accept the premise of the power point, the Democrat loses no matter what

We get it -- the voters in these districts, in a choice between HRC and Obama, chose HRC. BUt the implication that these voters will all migrate to McCain or to republican house candidate is absurd and insulting.

I voted for Obama. But I'd be voting for HRC if she was the nominee v. McCain. And I'll be voting for the Democratic candidate in my district (which has a chance of going to Democrat for the first time in decades this year).

If HRC's premise is correct -- that the voters who supported her in the primary will disappear in the GE if she's not the nominee then those districts are lost no matter what. Because if the 30 percent or so of Obama supporters in those districts disappear if she's the candidate, the only thing that will change is that the margin by which the Democrat in that district loses will be different, but the Democrat would still lose.
