11. I don't know about Indiana, but it IS illegal in California....
It is a problem we usually have with Republicans on GEs. They will try many ways to sneak GOP candidate signs either in the building or right near the front entrance.

One very popular one is to have the driver of a GOP voter-transport vehicle, wearing a GOP candidate's T-shirt, button or whatever, standing right in front of the front entrance. It's usually a pretty beefy guy, and IMO it is purely intimidation.

I keep a videocamera with me on election day. I send footage of voting illegalities to news stations and Dem election headquarters for the state.

If it is legal in Indiana to have a candidate's tale set up, I guess it's okay, but I think it looks bad and should be taken down.

3. Its legal as long as they make no suggestion to vote for Obama
Both sides have programs to help the voters figure out the new confusing rules in place for the first time in this election.

Nice try.

16. Trouble Voting? Talk to me. Obama for America
At least get it right.

The sign offers voter assistance. The assistance is provided by Obama for America. So exactly what law is broken by that, and why aren't the poll workers at that poll at all concerned by what you allege to be a violation of the law?

If I were there, I would inform them of that fact and suggest they tape over it, blacken it out, or something.

I like how audio is conveniently left out. There is no indication at all that they were trying to influence voters. On the flip side of this, I was voting next to an elderly Republican gentleman who needed assistance voting due to having visual impairment. He stated to the assistant that he wanted to vote for Ron Paul and the assistant said, "He's not on the ballot anymore" The old man protested and the assistant said, "Well I mean you can pick him, but that's like throwing your vote away".

WTF?

edit: also, to directly address your "question" this is perfectly legal. They are there to observe if any voter disenfranchisement is occuring. If you were illegally encouraged to vote for another candidate or turned away from voting, they are there to assist you with resolving the issue. There is nothing illegal or underhanded about it.

Reading the responses. Imagine what the response on DU would have been if it were an organization supporting Clinton that did this.

It's a fun exercise.

21. Opposing teams equally chagrin
I got called out for wearing a campaign sticker at the poll here in TX and the gal next to me had one on for the other candidate. When the Poll Judge came over to correct us, we both reddened. Oh, and we laughed together and teased the judge (also a local principal) about him giving us detention. Both of us wrong, both found it funny.

18. I've found old snot rags in polling places -- far more "dangerous."
This is pretty dinky stuff. People leave this stuff in every polling place, whether by accident or by intent. An election worker should clean it up and proceed with the election. Which is what I have done.

19. Don't know about IN but illegal in TX
The precinct judge should have kicked it out. We had a rally right before going to early vote and I forgot I had my sticker on. As it should be, a very nice PJ pointed it out and I took it off. End of story.

The text "Obama for America" should not be displayed (slap some tape over it or something).
