Isn't it time to take the high road and be the first to knock the crap off?
Stop the hating, please.

Don't wait for Obama supporters to do it first; don't wait for Clinton supporters to do it first. The time has come to show how intelligent, mature, and respectful DUers can be and to begin the healing process by extending the olive branch without shitting on it first.

"We" will all need "us" during the GE. It's time to stop dunking pigtails in inkwells. It's time to stop with the "I know you are but what am I" and "But Johnny did it first."

Can we please start focusing any lingering negativity at McCain, where it is rightfully deserved?

Do you really want four more years? I don't give a flying rat's ass who wins the nomination. I just care about the party.

1. Remember, there are core "community" members at DU and there are others
for whom this community is simply a platform to foment hate. This will only pass when the nomination is officially settled, but I agree with your sentiment.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=5839953&mesg_id=5840927

There is a subtle psychology showing here, methinks.

I've been here since 2002 and I thought I'd seen it all... not in the least!

3. Thanks Juni...
It's time for the adults to stand up and do an 'a-hem!"

Politics is for grown ups..
no matter how many mashed potatoes get flung across the
dining room table, that behavior doesn't behoove the changes
our country desperately needs. (hey, we've had a middle-schooler
in the White House for years.. time for a new resident)...

Perhaps if we mature people set an example, just perhaps
the rest of the electorate can put on their big boy/girl
panties, and rise to the occasion.

I know there've been times I too joined the fray,
but I'm tired of frat boys and jokes. All of the hysterial,
all of the 'breath-holding' and temper tantrums about one
candidate over another are silly.

We're seriously in trouble. As I've said before:
I will do what we need to do to get out of this mess.

7. Its not about being the first
There have been plenty of Democrats that have not participated in the in-fighting and a great many that not taken it to a level that causes mutual antagonism. The problem is that there are just as many still fighting, and we need (just about) everyone in order to present a united front against the Republicans. Many Clinton supporters believe Obama and/or his supporters have been unfair to Clinton and/or her supporters and that it is up to Obama to bring the party together. Similarly many Obama supporters believe the unfairness is the other way, and that uniting will only occur after Clinton stops attacking. I have seen many posts on this board from both sides where the poster feels their "side" is trying to reconcile and the other side is preventing it. While I have my own opinions on the subject, the fact of the matter is that most people's view of the facts of the situation is shaped by which candidate they support, making such assertions meaningless. One can not say, "we are trying to unite but you will not less us", because the other side is simply going to say that the very fact that they believe that shows they are not trying to unite.

I join you in wanting an end to the divisiveness. I come not claiming my side as being more the victim, but with the expectation that anyone else wanting to join in reconciliation make the same claim. It will be very hard for most of the posters on this board to participate in such a pact, so I sadly doubt we will see many takers to this thread.

17. Thank you for your well thought out post
I agree with most of what you say here, but I'm a daft and dewy-eyed dope building up impossible hopes.

Some lyrics from a musical I loved as a child...

(Godmother)
Impossible, for a plain yellow pumpkin to become a golden carriage.
Impossible, for a plain country bumpkin and a prince to join in
marriage,
And four white mice will never be four white hosrses!
Such fol-der-ol and fid-dle-dy dee of course, is--- Impossible!
But the world is full of zanies and fools
Who don't believe in sensible rules
And won't believe what sensible people say.
And because these daft and dewey-eyed dopes keep building up impossible
hopes,
Impossible things are happening every day.

(Cinderella)
Impossible!

(Godmother)
Impossible!

(Cinderella)
Impossible!

(Godmother)
Impossible!

(Cinderella)
Impossible!

(Godmother)
Impossible!

(Both)
Impossible!

(Cinderella)
It's Possible! For a plain yellow pumpkin to become a golden carriage!
It's Possible! For a plain country bumpkin and a prince to join in
marriage!

(Godmother)
And four white mice are easily turned to horses!
Such fol-der-ol and fid-dle-dy dee of course, is
Quite Possible! It's possible!

(Cinderella)
For the world is full of zanies and fools

19. Good one, Juniperx.
Yesterday, a die hard Clinton supporter responded to someone by essentially saying:

I think I like your candidate more that you do. You are only driven by your hatred of my candidate, not a belief in your own.

There is a lot of that going around. The same debunked accusations thrown over and over again. The same distorted information presented as fact.

I say, let the haters play in their little hateful playpen. Ignore them. They live off response and want to fight. They are constantly daring a member of the other side to come in the room and fight them. Sometimes it is fun to drop a funny comment or put a spotlight on the irony or ludicrousness of what they say. Other than that, I say just let them be.

My bet is that they are going away once we have our nominee chosen. Game will be over.

35. Nope, I don't, but neither do I see much difference between
the DLC and the Republicans. That's exactly my point, the DLC should not have influence within the Democratic Party. This nation can stand two parties that are distinct from each other, and the DLC infiltration renders that distinction non-existent.

38. The DLC was very important to Democrats in the beginning
But like most things, time has a way of changing everything. Still, is this a good reason to ignore that we have two Democratic candidates? If one isn't "Democratic" enough, perhaps you should take it up with the DNC.

We need to be united in this, or we will lose on more levels than I care to imagine.

I have no use for those sorts and I won't have any use for them after the primary is over. Those people, including those I once respected, are no longer on my radar.

44. I'm agreeing 100%. If she does the "nuclear option" I'd need 3 martinis to agree.
(I've had two so far).

58. Keep those horrid Bush and McSame photos posted all over DU!
This is what we will get if we don't unite now within the party. That's not to say anyone should cease backing their candidate of choice, but it shouldn't be at the expense of others.

62. So what? What difference does it make what someone says
The rules must be obeyed regardless. And all this is beside the point. Your post pains me because this is exactly what this thread is about. So the fuck what... you can't see things like this if you are taking the high road, only if you are wallowing in the gutter.

I was reminded of an old saying my grandpa was fond of repeating. Treat life like a dog does... if you can't play with it, or eat it, piss on it and walk away.

I think it's time to take that leak.

70. As if to illustrate...
Bloo, this is exactly what I'm talking about. You know how stubborn she is, and her supporters, and Obama, and his supporters... what's the problem with heading the march toward unity? Heading the march shows you are actually more forward thinking than those who lag behind. If you feel that way about Clinton, take the high road and show you are better than she is. Whatever it takes to stop this tit for tat garbage.

fighting against him.

And not one iota better. How's the view from the gutter? The air is much fresher on the high road.
