How long are we going to let the media claim a passive role in the Wright scandal?
We keep hearing members of the media refer to the Wright scandal as something that just happened, as if it were a force of nature that couldn't be stopped.

"How is this scandal that's engulfed Obama going to affect him..."
"This scandal just won't fade, can Obama handle this if it lasts til November?"

Then they get all meta, saying things like,
"Will this hurt Obama if his opponents decide to play this clip over and over again?"...

When will someone call them out on the level of orchestration that's been involved in fanning the flames of this "scandal"?

Can't we at least use the Wright scandal as bona fide proof that we don't have a Liberal Media? We should be playing this card every time someone claims we have a liberal media from now on. Go Ju-jitsu with this thing.

1. Passive? Don't you mean passive aggressive?
"Something that just happened," (like a boo boo), but "we in the press have to keep picking it till it bleeds."

2. I just emailed MSNBC and in essence asked them
when they were going to shut up on the sensationalism and get to the real issues hurting this country.

3. why do you think it is a "scandal"? this stuff is public record Here's what Obama ought to say:
Well you know I've listened to Rev. Wright, and I've also sat and listened to long speeches by George W. Bush. While I disagree with what both of them say sometimes, I will defend to my death their right to say those things.

5. They are passive
They just sit back and play the clip over, and over, and over, and over, and over.

6. perhaps the same way you deal with infectious diseases... isolating the source of problem.
NYTimes Magazine has article about Slutkin's work in Chicago with gang members using methods to control infectious disease on gang violence. Slutkin recruits ex-members who then use peer-pressure in stopping others who've been hurt by gang violence from retaliating.

You stop spread of AIDS by going to vectors and making sure they don't spread it. Part of that is reaching out to the peer group.

So my suggestion is- do our best to reach out to our peers in work place and social groups and get people to TURN OFF CORPORATE MEDIA.

Tell people if they want to watch news on tv to try NewsHour with Lehrer on Channel 13.
