Are the posters on GD:P representative of the Democratic party voters?

I've been reading posts on this forum for the last couple of months - haven't posted much - and I keep wondering if you are representative or not? - seemed simplest to finally just ask.

8. I've never claimed to be a "Democrat" in over 6 years since I joined DU.

It has NEVER been required or expected, no matter how many times people who can't seem to read the rules make such an assertion. I'm an independent liberal, not a partisan. :shrug:

that posters here and posters who visit the right-leaning sites probably only represent about 5-10 percent of voters on either side. People who belong to internet forums follow politics more closely than the average person, and tend to feel passionate about their candidate.

I lurked here for years, and was encouraged to sign up and start participating by a long-time poster lots of people here know.

She was right when she told me that there's likely a few posters who've been here for years who keep up the facade so they can post on election nights stuff like "ha ha! I'm a freeper and have been all along!"

Can't speak to what motivates folks to do that, just pretty sure it goes on.

16. My Opinion Is "No"

I am comparatively new to DU, just under one year, so my information regarding the last presidential primary is second-hand. But I can tell you that what I see and hear on GD-P in particular this time around doesn't seem to extrapolate in tone or numbers to the outside world. Specifically, I encounter far more OVERT Clinton support elsewhere, especially among African Americans. This surprised me at first, but no longer; while it's a great place for good information, rumor, humor, innuendo, conspiracy theories and misinformation, it's not a microcosm or bellwether of anything else.
