from state budgets that go to rebuilding our roads and infrastructure.

Remember when that bridge failed last year?

THIS is the sort of thing Obama needs to slam her with.

1. This has got to be the dumbest idea ever.
When the hell are they going to end the holiday? It would be framed as a gas tax increase, just like chimpy's tax cuts.

Gas prices will continue to soar, and we would be back to $4 a gallon in no time. When the "holiday" ended it would be a helluva a blow.

3. Obama LIED when he said that on the stump. Hillary's plan is paid for by
royalties on the gas companies. He LIED straight out.

4. This is so short-sighted -- offering a bribe to the voters.
I dunno -- it worked at least in part for Bush in 2000 with his tax refund (that ended up being something different).

14. Obama was for it before he was against it:
Obama took a different view on the issue when he was an Illinois legislator, voting at least three times in favor of temporarily lifting the state's 5 percent sales tax on gasoline.

The tax holiday was finally approved during a special session in June of 2000, when Illinois motorists were furious that gas prices had just topped $2 a gallon in Chicago.

During one debate, he joked that he wanted signs on gas pumps in his district to say, "Senator Obama reduced your gasoline prices."

5. She should not have to
The maintenance and upkeep of bridges in the interstate highway system is the responsibility of the state where the structure is located. The fact the DOT provides additional funds to the states from federal taxes does not relieve the states of their responsibility.

7. 20 cents a gallon amounts to nothing. NADA.
I'll save a whopping $2.50 a tank and somehow that's not going to solve the problem. Lower it by $2.00 a gallon and I'll pay attention. It's blatant politicking to the stupid people.

17. No, because she is seeking to replace the money from a windfall tax
on the oil companies whose profits have been obscene while we are paying through the nose. There is no reason for profits to continue to climb at the rate they have been. Where is the "shared sacrifice" that this nation stood for during the depression. As long as the oil comapnies make a reasonable profit, why must their profits continue to rise outrageously? I like Hillary's plan for that reason alone. It will be a way to get the oil companies shift some of their profits toward state highway funds. In fact, that should be a permanent thing to do.

Obama says rivals Clinton, McCain pandering on gas tax

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) -- Democrat Barack Obama dismissed his rivals' calls for national gas tax holiday as a political ploy that won't help struggling consumers. Hillary Rodham Clinton said his stance shows he's out of touch with the economic realities faced by ordinary citizens.

Clinton and certain Republican presidential nominee John McCain are calling for a holiday on collecting the federal gas tax "to get them through an election," Obama said at a campaign rally before more than 2,000 cheering backers a week before crucial primaries in Indiana and North Carolina. "The easiest thing in the world for a politician to do is tell you exactly what you want to hear."

Clinton, who toured the Miller Veneers wood manufacturing company in Indianapolis, said "there are a lot of people in Indiana who would really benefit from a gas tax holiday.

"That might not mean much to my opponent, but I think it means a lot to people who are struggling here, people who commute a long way to work, farmers and truckers," Clinton said. She has called for a windfall tax on oil companies to pay for a gas tax holiday.

"Senator Obama won't provide relief, while Senator McCain won't pay for it," Clinton said. "I'm the only candidate who will provide immediate relief at the pump, with a plan."
