My Fundamentalist-Republican Neighbor Just Called
Edited on Sun Apr-27-08 06:24 PM by crankychatter
She's my son's Mother-in-Law. We are in an extremely small town in Kansas.

Three months ago I told her I was for Obama and she said "Isn't he a Muslim?" She had gotten an E-mail. I showed her the Journeyman Pictures short on "Mama Obama," and assured her that Barack was a practicing Christian. She fell in love with Obama's Kenyan Grandmother.

I told her we aren't at war with Islam and gave her some Bush quotes from Reuters.

"Bush said such anti-Islamic comments were at odds with the views of most Americans."

"Some of the comments that have been uttered about Islam do not reflect the sentiments of my government or the sentiments of most Americans," Bush told reporters as he began a meeting with U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

"By far, the vast majority of American citizens respect the Islamic people and the Muslim faith. After all, there are millions of peace-loving Muslim Americans," Bush said.

"Ours is a country based upon tolerance ... And we're not going to let the war on terror or terrorists cause us to change our values."

I told her the demonization of Islam in the media, owned by War Profiteers, was propoganda, to terrorize people into supporting the Iraq debacle.

When she called just now, she expressed deep concern that Hillary Clinton would get the nomination, possibly win the General Election, and escalate the War in the Middle East, by attacking Iran. She was quite shaken up, from what she had seen on television today.

I assured her that it's most probable that Obama would be our nominee. She said, "It sure looks like Hillary is going to weasel her way in, though, doesn't it?"

Where we live MSNBC and Comedy Central are not offered by the local Cable Company. We can't even get CSPAN without paying extra. We have four Christian Stations and 8 or 9 "Family Channels." These poor folks are largely under-informed, but even here, they realize that the War was a mistake.

They will vote for Obama in numbers that will SHOCK ALL the talking heads.

I can't wait.

8. Lots of peole where I live saying Obama looks good to them
When I moved here, I was the sixth person in the county registered as a DEM. Good thing too, one old DEM died shortly there after.

I was an election judge here and counted votes in 04. Kerry got more than just us DEMS and there were even some votes for Nader.

You might be surprised what is true.

12. I believe you, and believe that there are Wonderful American Citizens
out there everywhere, and it is they who will make the difference!

Otherwise, how can we on the one hand proclaim America to be a good and a God fearing nation, yet on the other encourage and even promote the idea that an individual cannot become President simply because he is ½ Black?

The world is watching, and the values that our soldiers fought for; the notion of liberty and equality...... will now become the question.

Obama, as the GE Candidate will address this issue, and Americans all over this nation will have to grapple and come to grips. Are we willing to take 20 steps back to score political points, they will have to ask themselves? Is this what we want for ourselves in the 21st century?

And now matter what our citizens choose to do, they will have to understand that if they pick a candidate based on the color of his skin, then they will know that they are part of the United States of the perpetual fraud. In otherwords, their action will degrade their own country, including the soldiers who have valliantly fought in past wars.

That's an argument I'm happy to have.

13. RW TV demonizes the Left - LW Media demonizes the Right
Edited on Sun Apr-27-08 07:17 PM by crankychatter
and the ALL demonize Islam

This is how they keep us divided

The Republican base is almost as diverse, and issue driven as the Democratic base.

WE ARE NOT ALL IDEALOGUES.

We're ALL just folks, with more shared issues than the DIVIDE AND CONQUER, Corporate Media would have us know.

take heart...

Listen to Obama's message

he's right
