2. I voted not changed
Although in all fairness I already knew the caricature created by the repukes, clintons and MSM was a false one. I knew that Wright was a complex man that was basically a good person.

4. We TiVo'd the program. And watched it twice. The first time we watched it, we
were stunned at the level of knowledge, history and Biblical teachings, and the depth of Rev. Wright's passion for preaching.

The second time we watched it, we would stop the program, and discuss what the Rev. had just commented on, and our view and the meaning of his words.

We did that several times.

My conclusion, as well as my husbands', was that Rev. Wright severed his country and his congregation well, taught well, and was a true Christian and Patriot.

5. He's an impressive man. What a contrast with uneducated dirtbag Hannity.
Rev. Wright is a thoughtful, intelligent, well-educated man, and it shows.

Then there's Hannity and Limbaugh, who have about three weeks of college between them.

Yuck.

10. I thought Moyers offered Wright as a community leader in the manner
of the alert citizenry Madison and Jefferson envisioned, which is to say the caliber of citizenship that sustains communities at the local level and collectively sustain democracies at the national level.

Hats off for Rev. Wright, a good man.

And kudos to Moyers for the top-drawer interview.

The cable news talking heads could have run an interview like this with Wright at any time. They chose not to.

20. His example was the different prayers being said on the top of the slave ship & below - Brilliant!!!
Found this on another post today about hermeneutics:

Essentially, hermeneutics involves cultivating the ability to understand things from somebody else's point of view, and to appreciate the cultural and social forces that may have influenced their outlook.

21. Brilliant and poignant when you realize that when those sailors
were too sick or too old to work, they were often taken in by black families who lived near the waterfront. (I can't remember if those families were freedmen or not, but it was part of a presentation I heard on slave ships via BookTv.)

17. I never had a bad opinion of him
I knew that his image was being tarnished by conservatives--and some Democrats who were looking to score a few cheap political points. I knew the history of the Black Liberation Theology movement and the progressive agenda TUCC has enacted at the community level. I was nonetheless *very* impressed with Rev. Wright last night because he was more intelligent, sophisticated, and sly than I could have hoped. Seeing him, you understand how he took that church from 87 members to 8000.

19. Hmmm.... four Liars/Willing Dupes so far...
How anyone on DU still lets the media fool them is amazing.

I've known since I bothered to find the context of what he said that he is a wise and righteously angry man.

Now I realize how much more thoughtful he is, but my opinion hasn't changed.

There are always going to be some who don't or cannot relate. I hope it just wasn't because they are HRC supporters.

23. My view hasnt' changed b/c I figured the damn MSM, Hillary and the
Repukes were doing their best to smear him. I did my homework and listened/read several hours of the man's sermons. I saw him to be a good man who built a very good church!

26. Didn't change
I made an effort to listen to the entire sermons a long time ago. I've always liked him and thought he was a brilliant man.

I was nervous about the interview and said the media would take parts of it out of context and distort it (which is exactly what has happened). But overall I'm glad he did the interview. He will come off well to those who bother to watch the whole thing.

27. Same Here...
I watched the longer segments of those sermons the snippets were taken from when Trinity UCC first put them on YouTube. The interview was great, but I already had seen a snippet from the interview on Morning Joke the other day, again taken out of context, trying to make it seem like he was making Obama out to be a slick polititian.
