Obama Attempts to Deceive the Superdelegates!

)))Obama Attempts to Deceive the Superdelegates(((

After Obama’s devastating defeat in Pennsylvania, the Obama campaign released a memo addressed to the superdelegates but published in the Wall Street Journal which argues that Obama would be the strongest candidate in the Fall against McCain. The memo is so deeply flawed that Jerome Armstrong ridicules it as “satire,” and “exhibit A” for “intellectual dishonesty”:

I don’t know that I’ve ever seen anything a campaign poll memo that so obviously cherry-picks polls over the last 4 months to make their case. It’s almost satire. Some rookie mailed it in on behalf of the Obama campaign’s “memo to the superdelegates”. I couldn’t imagine a known political blogger creating this list, and not being laughed and mocked out of the blogosphere.

Not only are the polls cited by Obama Inc. stale, but much has transpired since many of these polls were taken. Most importantly, Rev. Wright has entered the nation’s consciousness and Obama–contrary to his claims–failed to repudiate Wright.

Obama was able to blunt criticism in the media by giving his “race” speech, but the public at large has turned off to Obama and the rational for his candidacy has vanished.

A simple overview of the Pennsylvania results demostrates this fact. Hillary won 60 out of 67 counties in Pennsylvania and took every group except African Americans and those earning over $150,000 a year. In the critical state of Pennsylvania, Rasmussen Reports in a poll released today that Hillary leads McCain by 5 points but McCain beats Obama by 1 point. That’s after Obama spent $11.2 million on ads and six weeks in the state. If the Obama campaign wants superdelegates to look at numbers, then these numbers from Pennsylvania must be considered:

According to exit polls, Hillary won voters most concerned about the economy by 16 points (58-42) and union households by 18 points (59-41). She won those with incomes between 100K and 150K by 20 points (60-40); white women by 32 points (66-34) and Catholics by 38 points (69-31). She won those who decided on the last day (59-41), the last three days (58-42) and the last week (54-46).

This mis-leading memo from Obama puts to rest the notion that Obama has the nomination wrapped up. Perhaps the most egregious lie in the memo was the omission of Florida and Ohio. Chris Cillizza writes:

Two states that are not mentioned in the Obama memo are Florida, the key battleground in the 2000 presidential race, and Ohio, the Florida of the 2004 contest.

Do you want to guess why Obama left out the two most critical battle ground states?

the average of all polling in Florida puts McCain at 45 percent and Clinton at 42 percent, while Obama trails McCain, 49 percent to 38 percent. The same is true in Ohio, where Clinton leads McCain, 49.5 percent to 43 percent, while McCain led Obama, 45.5 percent to 43 percent.

By any fair metric, the race for the nomination is a tie. The superdelegates have the fiduciary duty to select the strongest candidate to face McCain. The superdelegates require the best and most accurate information to make their choice. The Obama campaign’s untruthful memo is an insulting piece of propaganda masquerading as a polling memo. They should take Obama’s sophistry into consideration when making their selection.

Paul Krugman best describes Obama’s inability to connect with much of the Democratic base in places the memo omits:(great article..Must read!)
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/25/opinion/25krugman.html?_r=2&ex=1366862400&en=61660ec18aa55019&ei=5090&partner=rssuserland&emc=rss&pagewanted=all&oref=slogin&oref=slogin (great article..Must read!)

From the beginning, I wondered what Mr. Obama’s soaring rhetoric, his talk of a new politics and declarations that “we are the ones we’ve been waiting for” (waiting for to do what, exactly?) would mean to families troubled by lagging wages, insecure jobs and fear of losing health coverage. The answer, from Ohio and Pennsylvania, seems pretty clear: not much.

4. I vote for another debate and I want to be the moderator.
We'll get to the bottom of "Screw 'em-gate," Bosnia, NAFTA, Burkle, etc. once and for all. And I'll point out - time and time again - that Hillary's healthcare bill of goods is nothing more than a second term election ploy. She's proming universal healthcare, but it won't happen until the "end of her second term." Somehow that gets lost from her "I'm just a regular gal" speeches.

Known hired gun? Hack? Under SEC investigation for years for touting anything he's paid for, THAT Jerome Armstrong? Is this another myspace bulletin of yours? You wasted a thread on THIS garbage?

PS: REZKO CLINTON!!!!

http://www.redstate.com/story/2006/6/19/154731/293

In the long series of candidates pimped, we now find ourselves at 2008 presidential contender Mark Warner, who hired Jerome Armstrong to work for his campaign. Quid. Shortly thereafter Kos, in an interview, mentioned that Warner was a candidate who needed to be watched - even though Warner has kept a decidedly low profile on the Iraq War, which has otherwise been the signature issue of Kos-backed candidates. Quo? It seems that Warner's payments to Armstrong worked out well - except that the judgment that had Warner hire Armstrong could be what does him in. At a minimum, it suggests a gross failure on Warner's part to handle an essential requirement for a prospective president - vetting your staff to keep out known miscreants.

You see, in 2003 the Securities and Exchange Commission charged Armstrong with a violation of the federal securities laws* for touting a newly-traded stock called BluePoint on the "Raging Bull" internet message board in 2000 (at the height of the tech stock craze) without disclosing that he was paid at least $20,000 by the promoters of BluePoint. And Suellentrop reports that the SEC got Armstrong to agree to a bar from the business**:

Without admitting or denying anything, Armstrong has agreed to a permanent injunction that forbids him from touting stocks in the future. The S.E.C. remains in litigation with him over the subject of potential monetary penalties.

A perusal of the complaint suggests that Armstrong was, at a minimum, involved in abetting a serious fraud. Read on.

19. Talk about cherry picking polls! YOU are doing the same! Here's a recent one for you!

This Zogby poll (April 10/12) was on Viewpoint with James Zogby show on Thursday...

It would appear to me that much of any strength Hillary has is more of an anti-McCain, and anti-Republican vote than a PRO Hillary vote. Obama actually ties McCain one on one and actually BEATS McCain with Nader and Bob Barr (running as Libertarian) added to the mix with McCain losing more votes to third parties than he. In the case of Clinton it is the opposite. It is SHE that loses more of the votes to third parties than McCain.

Clinton vs. McCain:
41% - Clinton
46% - McCain
13% - Someone else/not sure

Obama vs. McCain:
45% - Obama
45% - McCain
10% - Someone else/not sure

Clinton, McCain, Nader, Bob Barr:
39% - Clinton
45% - McCain
3% - Nader
2% - Barr
12% - Someone else/not sure

Obama, McCain, Nader, Bob Barr:
44% - Obama
42% - McCain
3% - Nader
2% - Barr
10% - Someone else/not sure

20. fair metric?
Edited on Sat Apr-26-08 08:52 AM by casurfear
The results from Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania are a counter-argument to the assertion made in the memo. Leaving out that information is not deception, it is called making an argument. Obama does not need to include counter-arguments any more than Clinton has to mention Obama's delegate lead every time she argues that she is more electable.

"By any fair metric, the race for the nomination is a tie."
--- Now, that is deception. Ultimately, the only meaningful metric is the delegate count and that is not a tie. There are valid arguments for Clinton, but the case is undermined by blatant misrepresentations like that statement.

21. I pretty much dismissed this piece with the first line...
"Obama's DEVASTATING loss in Pennsylvania..." mao

So devastating that he's going to be the nominee!

As far as debates, Obama should say, "I'll debate you right after you release your 2007 tax return and you pay everyone what you owe them. It's a crying shame to stiff the vendors the way Hillary has, especially in this economy.
