REC if you think that dirtbag Limbaugh should be JAILED or FINED for inciting riots in Denver.
Edited on Fri Apr-25-08 04:49 PM by Elrond Hubbard
That disgusting sack of shit has gone TOO FAR this time.
How can that piece of human waste, this toxic sludge dripping down the ass crack of humanity, still be allowed to broadcast hate and invitations to violence?
I think that these latest, disgusting, loathsome comments of his show his complete moral bankruptcy and his willingness to see innocent people hurt as long as it helps his cause.
REC THIS THREAD if you think he should be jailed or fined by the FCC, if not removed from the air, for his disgustingly inhuman behavior.
And let's talk about what we can do, as activists. :hi:
If this is a dupe, I'm sorry!
edit for spelling.

the Nazi Republican Party has a 3-2 majority and they wont do anything against a fellow Nazi.

We now live in a Christian police state that allows Nazi Republicans carte blanche. We have to do everything we can to stop Lurleen Wallace Clinton from stealing the Democratic nomination and get Obama in!

62. I will file one, show me how....heck, I think thes qualifies him as a ..
National threat and a terrorist. He probably should be arrested immeiately, and taken to GTMO, and held there until after the 2009 Inauguration Ceremony, without charges!!! Then, and only then, Obama or Hillary can let him go to trial on charges of treason, inciting a riot, terrorism, and various and sundry FAA broadcast violations...........should lock him up for 20-30 years......in a place where he can't broadcast his hate and loathing for the American system.

And NO VIAGARA on his diet, in some federal prison where only ugly men are held.

This goes beyond the FCC, who mainly concern themselves with such threats to our civilisation as someone saying "fuck" on the radio. This should be a law enforcement matter.

Stooping to Coulter's level would be saying something like: "Hurr, kill Rush and everyone who listens to him!"

Rush is inciting violence to disrupt a democratic election. That's treason in my book as well. Ideally, he'd be tried, convicted, and hanged. Rush's listeners are just damn fools, and stupidity + poor choice in radio broadcasts isn't a crime.

This could explain it. And anyone buying into the OP misses the point
completely of what is going on here -- an attempt to discredit the
anti-war movement the same way the Populists and Socialists were
discredited in the late 19th century, by tying them to the losing faction
of an out-of-power political party and setting the dogs loose on each other.

205. DEBS -- whatever the "CIA" does is merely the shadow (as in Plato), and not the original form
It is time at this point in history for authentic progressives to confront the original forms, in a collective and serious manner, jettisoning the classical formulation of flagships that, like Lucy and the Football, simply NEVER work (not for the Kennedy assassinations, not for the Lennons facing assassination, not for eggplant-tennis-anyone, not for authentic progressives being systematically suppressed from effective mobilization, not for unblacklisting blacklisted issues or strategies (like a door to door group canvassing across the US against the Iraq War, or for that matter to end absolute poverty ("world hunger"))

Yes, of course, whenever some token concessions are in the pipeline, they are dribbled out specifically to those 'golden boys' who "played by the rules", with rule #1: NO EFFECTIVE AUTHENTIC PROGRESSIVE POLITICS

204. The black-letter on "incitement" in today's federal law is ...
The speech must (1) URGE (2) ACTION which is (3) IMMEDIATE and (4) ILLEGAL

And don't forget, when you chip away at freedom of speech, even noxious speech, like Nazis marching in Skokie, it can and will come around to bite you in the ass (although in the real American, and w/in even the new sds/mds, as in the destruction of the MySpace site I was running, you get bitten in the ass ANYWAY).

Consider attempts to outlaw "racist" speech, illegal in MOST other industrial countries with "democratic" governments (the delegitimizing quotes are not accidental). In Britain, such laws were passed, with overwhelming support in the black community, and then, once passed were used, albeit only rarely -- ALMOST ALWAYS AGAINST BLACK NATIONALISTS!

43. Well let us not just post on a forum let us send a complaint to the FCC!
http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/complaints.html

Getting him off the air or given a HUGE fine is the first step towards his arrest. Because his going off the air will gain national news which will get ALOT of other people calling for his arrest and the .gov will take more notice.

Then they can see what kind of evidence is valid for a warrant against him.

He damned himself in my view with saying this after praising his operation chaos deal.

Free speech is one thing, but when someone sits on the airwaves encourages, and tries to organize a riot, then this should concern us all.
When one threatens the safety of our women, children, and men, then everyone should complain. The country has enough problems. We don't need this kind of selfish crap on the airwaves from a idiot who's head is about to explode.

What if someone said on their air they wanted a person harmed? What if they were giving out info that could be used to destroy? What if classified info was being leaked? What if they were putting defamatory statements out?

I'm sick of this idea the neocons put forward that because you get behind a microphone you are automatically protected from any and all legal action.

If someone says that he wants a person harmed, so what? That is not "speech brigaded with action" so as to constitute some kind of threat of harm.
"Giving out info that could be used to destroy"-not sure what you're talking ab out.
"Classified info leaked" that isn't what Rush is doing.
Defamatory statements are actionable, but, if the person defamed is a public figure, the burden of proof is high.

Rush's speech is despicable, and any of a number of actions are appropriate. Prosecution is not one of them.

I have no idea what you are talking about about neocons and immunity from legal action.

I remember the 1968 Democratic convention. It was a cop riot, not a demonstrator riot. And it was started by Mayor Daly and the Chicago PD. Were you there?

Oh, and I know which states my law license is good in. How about you?

for example, an individual might have standing to sue for damages.

Of course, they never do diddly in the protection of authentic progressives, especially from underground incitement against them.

and don't think any complaints to the FCC (should they really be regulating radio waves' content like that?) won't be used against authentic progressives. After all, truth is the first casualty of any censorship, and the MOST reasonable progressive speech is equated with the WORST of reactionary speech, or, by Tories, even with bombs & such.

(B) appear to be intended--

(i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population;

(ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or

(iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and

(C) occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States.

A big reason why having so many people jailed for things like drug laws is so costly to the taxpayer.

Now remember this ALL has to go through a court process that because he is a BIG name with a BIG law team will take years.

The first step is to get him suspended by the FCC or extremely heavily fined. You do this by noting your concerns with the FCC http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/complaints.html If they get enough people asking for action and they find reasonable evidence to do so they MAY take action.

Does anyone remember the WTO protests in Seattle? I wasn't there but i watched the tv coverage and thought

it strange that the black masked 'protesters' who were smashing store windows were coincidentally followed

around by tv cameras and then there was almost instantaneous attack by the police, tanks, tear gas. For the

casual unschooled observer, it seemed as if the protesters 'started it' or gave the police a reason to use

such heavy police tactics. The vast majority of the protesters were peaceful except for (paid?) shit disturbers.

135. Yes, there is a difference
and there's a difference between saying "I dream of riots" and standing in front of a mob and yelling "Grab your pitchforks, people! Let's go get 'em!"

Incitement to riot generally requires an IMMINENT threat of violence, not an abstract one.

I agree with the other posters here that this just encourages Limbaugh. Nothing will be done, and he gets the satisfaction of knowing he's got our knickers in a twist.

He's not inciting a riot anymore than people here are when they suggest there will be riots if Bush cancels the elections or imposes martial law.

148. I don't know...It sounds like he changed the tune
after he started singing...

He said the riots would ensure a Democrat is not elected as president, and his listeners have a responsibility to make sure it happens.

"Riots in Denver, the Democrat Convention would see to it that we don't elect Democrats," Limbaugh said during Wednesday's radio broadcast. He then went on to say that's the best thing that could happen to the country.

Several callers called in to the radio show to denounce Limbaugh's comments, when he later stated, "I am not inspiring or inciting riots, I am dreaming of riots in Denver."

Limbaugh said with massive riots in Denver, which he called part of "Operation Chaos," the people on the far left would look bad.

It's possible that the article is poorly written enough to take his comments out of context. On the other hand, he has a real talent for making controversial remarks, then spinning them to make it sound as if he said something else. SOhe basically says whatever the hell he wants and never retracts his statements...just claims he was misquoted or misunderstood.

I'm fed up with his bullshit. Lush should be fired because at his best, he's poor, irresponsible punditry (I can't seriously call his program "editorial broadcasting").

he's an idiot who should be off the air. The analogy you use is too slippery a slope though. What if I say "fire" who says it to someone else, who says it to someone else, who yells it in the theater. Especially if your advocating criminal prosecution - everyone in this country has said something at some point that would make them a criminal if those are the standards. I think we should be of the mindset that we may disagree with what you're saying, but we'll defend you're right to say it.

159. Operation Chaos (mentioned by Limbaugh) is the name given to
CIA domestic surveillance operations. I think it is possible that there may be CIA agitators planted within this Recreate68 "umbrella" organization. The GOP frame for Obama and other Dems right now is "Marxist" and radical (the North Carolina TV ad using Reverend Wright and saying the Dem candidates are "too extreme.") I think it is possible that inflitrators will be planted in the demonstrations in Denver to incite violence. I believe that occured at the WTO. That is what lost the 68 presidency - riots at the Dem convention. It will happen again. Limbaugh is setting the stage.

When I attended a big demonstration in DC a few years ago, there was a middleaged African American man and his caucasion wife who were part of a group of about 30 people recieveing training for peaceful resistance. The man (not an organizer, just a participant like me) told the group that when he participated in demonstrations in the 60's, police would carry their clubs, and when they began to thump the club in their hand, this was an indicator they were about to use it on a demonstrator. Everyone listened intently while he told his story. The interesting thing was, when we took a break both and he and I broke from the group to go to the porta jons which were across the field from the group. When I came out of the jon, and walked back toward the group, this man was about half way there with a small movie camera which he was using to film the crowd. He was talking into it saying, "they expected a couple of hundred people but there are only around 30 people here." I did not say anything to him, but I immediately thought he was probably an infiltrator/spy.

I think infiltrators will incite a riot to make the Democrats look bad, just as Limbaugh is dreaming about.

If anyone will be rioting in Denver it will be police
or gucci clad "Hillary supporters" wearing black outfits.

You may wish to consider the ANTI WAR MOVEMENT before making
bold pronouncements about "incitement to riot, fire in a crowded theater"
or saying civil disobedience/unrest is illegitimate when directed against
a particular party.

A companion thread demanding the jailing of anti-war movement that is
planning large-scale actions in Minneapolis is in order, don't you think?
(Google is your friend, Rush is merely repeating what is widely known.
He just hopes all these people will get arrested in Denver before they

Now if you can document Rush saying "I want to see a lynching in Denver"...you could file a Hate Speech Complaint...but that's not the FCC....

and basically what it all means is that the only way to really try to stop this bigot is to hit him at his roots..the station he works for...and their advertisers...flood them with calls..complaints..emails...

Anyway not to discourage those who want to complain to the FCC...some have posted some pretty compelling arguments..and I think turning talk into action is a good thing.

When I filed this complaint, I called it inciting a riot, and an act of terrorism.. I doubt anything will happen to him...but the more complaints that pile in, the better the chances of having him fined. FWIW...even if nothing happens to him, the mass of complaints alone should have him sitting in some hot water. Make the clown sweat.

counts, and if the record gets looked at later for something else the bonehead says in the future, these complaints just add to the evidence against him

What he did was advocate domestic terrorism, and for all the times he's (right;y), condemned rioting, for him to advocate such is little more than trying to get his minions to do something remarkably stupid as well, as illegal.

Rush limbaugh, Domestic Terrorist...has a nice ring to it... :D

183. K&R. The best way to get him off the air is to write to and boycott his advertisers,
assuming he still has advertisers... That's the way that hatemonger Michael Weiner Savage was removed from the air, from TV, at least. And I agree that Limbaugh is more dangerous, since he has a bigger audience and is completely out of control. He needs to go down, fines, jail, deportment, enforced diet, I'm not fussy... x(

190. The key word is 'incite'
That means that he is inciting people to riot through saying something that could cause harm to persons or property. Some of the people on this thread are inciting to kill Limbaugh which isn't very smart and can get them in trouble, especially if some harm comes to him because of what is said here. I'm glad the OP is telling everyone he is against that kind of behavior and talk.

185. Rush is a Democratic Advocate - we must give him respect
Edited on Sat Apr-26-08 08:01 AM by leaningprog
Rush knows his blue collar white demographic better than most
Democrats in my opinion. He is their champion, and they look to
him for guidance and what to think on the big, hard, questions
that confront them in elections. Staying true to his people
Rush has come out strongly for Hillary and has sent her hundreds
of thousands of votes in Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and soon
Indiana and North Carolina. I know it is sad that he will go
solidly Republican in the GE, but for now, he has elevated our
preselected candidate, Hillary, with the vital voter base and
staying power she needs to keep a terrifying, unapproved by
Mark Penn for Commander in Chief, and let's face it, unapproved
by the New York Media, AIPAC, and other vital sources that must
approve all viable Democrats before they are allowed the votes
of the little people in the flyover states for national office.

It is sad, but later this year when Rush is forced by his long
term loyalties to stop backing a Democratic candidate, she is
going to lose ABC News, valiant efforts from Fox News, and
probably most devastating, Mr. Scaife, who has finally seen the
light of Hillary after a little bit of forgivable mischief back
in the Clinton White House days. Yet for this magic moment,
they along with the almost 25% of superdelegates who committed
to Hillary months before the primary began, we have the
marvel of this bi-party coalition for our Democratic candidate.

In the final analysis, Rush will have brought our candidate
perhaps as many votes as her husband in the primary, and
I have a gnawing, growing fear, that when Hillary loses the
Republican support, after the black candidate is destroyed,
and she is finally ready begin the glorious 4 or 8 year
constant trench war of a Clinton reign, that we will once
again have to get our heads around the fact, that Rush,
and John McCain, and Mr. Scaife, and Mr. Rove, and all the
blue collar ditto heads they have graced us with votes for
Hillary, are going to be lost to our Republicans in the GE.

A Clinton reign demands absolute loyalty, and I am afraid
our new found friends really won't have it, once they get
the beginnings of a revitalized and less polarized Democratic
party stamped out like the terrifying wildfire it is to them.

If I had a cynical bone in my body, I would probably suspect
something other than the truth, a grassroots outpouring of
love and respect for idea of a first woman president.

191. Dear Elrond
I baked you some fresh, homemade sarcasm this morning and
drew little dittoheads on it with icing. You don't have to
eat it or wash it down with dittohead kool aid.

My point is why the Clintons gladly accept the aid of
people who wish to destroy the promise of a new and
welcome influx of youth and Democratic Party growth,
even if they wish their own dynasty to rule once more
before it flourishes?

The elders generally don't destroy their next generation
to eliminate it's threat to their own power in my view
of natural succession in a healthy system of affairs.

222. FBI
I went to the FBI website last night and wrote about my concerns. I think he is in the process of destroying the integrity of our system of governance. I am very worried about his destructive influence on the honest functioning of our elections. I also think he is guilty of sedition, and raised that point with the FBI. I hope they take this seriously because I am very, very worried about the dismantling of our democracy by means of this dangerous "entertainer". The fact that he is out in the open, encouraging breaking laws, makes this a bit more confusing to address, perhaps. But the FBI folks are, I hope, sharp and focused on the law. I hope others will also write. I don't think this is a Dem. issue or a Rep. issue. I think the whole country should be outraged at the dismantling of our long-admired and necessary system. I realize it is far from perfect. But if the voting process gets destroyed, what do we have left? Thanks.
