3. Rendell was actually one of the first politicians that gave Farrakhan access to mainstream media...
when inviting him to speak in Philadelphia. This was around the time of the million man march when Farrakhan attempted to become a major black leader.

116. If you knew what you were talking about...
you wouldn't make such a BIG Fool of Yourself.

People realized early on of the danger of "The Racial Divide". Ed Rendell worked tirelessly to promote Unity between the races. Unlike the Bigoted Obamas and Rev Wright who encourage racism and bigotry. Here is the caption that goes with this video:

"This is the transcript of former Mayor, Ed Rendell, who is Governor of Pennsylvania and the states most influential supporter of Presidential hopeful, Hillary Rodham Clinton, speaking to a packed audience at Tindley Temple United Methodist Church on April 14, 1997 at rally: "A Solution Too Heal The Racial Divide." The then mayor was the principal organizer of the rally that brought together diverse religious, political, and civic Philadelphia leaders, with Nation of Islam leader, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan as the keynote speaker."

Whether it is aimed at Obama or at Clinton. It's juvenile and dumb. It's a play for small minds only, real high school cafeteria shit.

Only stupid people are affected in their vote by any of this (Wright, Ayres, Rendell, whatever). Unfortunately, there are a lot of stupid people.

I know Ed Rendell is the governor of PA. I lived there for 8 years, and voted for the guy. He's a good governor, and I really don't give a fuck what he has to say about Louis Farakkhan, and neither should anyone else. And don't give me the "It's the hypocrisy" nonsense. Bullshit. That's high school gossip shit wrapped in a silvery package of faux ethical adulthood. None of this shit matters. What are the fucking policies, period.

This sort of crap is why we end up voting for cartoon characters instead of real human beings capable of dealing with issues like adults. It's just mindless. Still, I can't deny there's some part of me that wants Hillary to take the heat for it. The challenge is to keep that dog on a short leash.

21. Actually Farrakhan said dirty religion not gutter religion
There is a difference which is why the MSM continues to tell the lie that Farrakhan said gutter religion when he really said dirty religion. Dirty religion is in all the Nation of Islam lessons that you can find posted on the web and all the NOI followers have to learn by heart so Farrakhan would never say gutter religion he really said dirty religion. Which only means that anything of good, even a religion, can be dirtied in the hands of any dirty person. Even a Muslim can practice "dirty" religion and practice terrorism. And hide terrorism under the good name of the religion of Islam.

43. Why has this video and speech by Rendell not been out there
in the media? Rev. Wright was such a good bashing point for Hillary and now this is being posted. The truth is that the blacks have been ignored and belittled for so long no one notices, like, hey, they just need to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps. Guess what, Obama did exactly that. Obama didn't trash Wright for some of the harsh statements he made. He didn't agree but understood his history. Understanding is a word lost on many people now days. It seems to be, my way or the highway. Bush speak of course....

1. Obama didn't ask for Farakhan's endorsement
2. Hillary bashed Obama because his PREACHER had ties to Farakhan, not because Obama himself has ties. The connector in this case is the preacher. So the connector to Hillary is RENDELL. Get it, got it, GOOD.

56. Hillary needs to denounce and reject Rendell
Edited on Mon Apr-21-08 01:01 PM by ProSense
From the recent debate:

SENATOR CLINTON: Well, I think, in addition to the questions about Reverend Wright and what he said and when he said it, and for whatever reason he might have said these things, there were so many different variations on the explanations that we heard. And it is something that I think deserves further exploration, because clearly what we've got to figure out is how we're going to bring people together in a way that overcomes the anger, overcomes the divisiveness and whatever bitterness there may be out there.

It is clear that, as leaders, we have a choice who we associate with and who we apparently give some kind of seal of approval to. And I think that it wasn't only the specific remarks, but some of the relationships with Reverend Farrakhan, with giving the church bulletin over to the leader of Hamas to put a message in. You know, these are problems, and they raise questions in people's minds.

And so this is a legitimate area, as everything is when we run for office, for people to be exploring and trying to find answers.

71. And, as Billy Graham has pastored Hillary, she needs to denounce his anti-semite views too
Renounce, repudiate, reject!

Rev. Billy Graham openly voiced a belief that Jews control the American media, calling it a "stranglehold" during a 1972 conversation with President Richard Nixon, according to a tape of the Oval Office meeting released Thursday by the National Archives.

"This stranglehold has got to be broken or the country's going down the drain," the nation's best-known preacher declared as he agreed with a stream of bigoted Nixon comments about Jews and their perceived influence in American life.

"You believe that?" Nixon says after the "stranglehold" comment.

"Yes, sir," Graham says.

"Oh, boy," replies Nixon. "So do I. I can't ever say that but I believe it."

"No, but if you get elected a second time, then we might be able to do something," Graham replies.

http://www.rense.com/general20/billy.htm

Both Bill and Hillary Clinton were sitting with him on stage in Flushing Meadows when Graham greeted them as his "wonderful friends of many years." "I told him," Graham said of President Clinton, "when he left the presidency, he should become an evangelist, because he had all the gifts." Graham paused, and added with a smile, "And he could his wife run the country."

-snip-

But Graham had praised and defended both Clintons before. And in a new interview, Hillary Clinton reports that the evangelist fulfilled a pastoral role during the Monica Lewinsky scandal and helped the First Lady endure the ordeal. At that time, Clinton says, Graham was "incredibly supportive to me personally. And he was very strong in saying, 'I really understand what you're doing and I support you.' He was just very personally there for me."

http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1650798,00.html

And now that it's become obvious that Rendell *hearts* Farrakhan, Hillary should immediately renounce, repudiate, and reject him as well.

/off snark.

This entire anti-semite/Farrakhan/who endorses whom/this candidate obviously holds the same views because of their (no matter how tenuous)association with (fill in the blank) has now entered the theatre of the absurd.

It *is* the politics of old, and the sheer hypocrisy boggles the mind.

Cause you know what they say about memories! Which is why Hillary supporters keeps saying......Wait till the GE, when they bring it up again.

This is just bullshit. It just means that what is good for the gander, is only good for the gander.
In otherwords, White people are untouchables.

Reminds me of the treatment of Hillary's "Screw 'em" comments about rural Whites; not really reported on.

Wonder why?

98. Could be, but I seriously hate when the spelling police come out all high and mighty like that

especially on a board that should look beyond that and get the meaning of what was said. Maybe the person doesn't know how to spell it? What does that prove? Could prove that despite a lack of education they are still paying attention and participating. I think that's a good thing.

It also usually shows that the person pointing out the mistake has nothing better to say and is grasping.

100. Aww, Suki Suki now
excerpts for the tape:

And next I'd like to thank the Nation Of Islam here in Philadelphia.
To thank you for what you stand for and for what you stand for, for all the good it does to so many people in Philadelphia. And if there is anyone out here in PA or Pennslyvania or the USA who doesn't know, this is the faith that has as its principle, the family. This is the faith that doesn't just talk about family values, it lives family values. This is the faith where men respect their women and children and they manifest that faith by staying in the home with them. This is a faith that doesn't just talk about being against drugs but is out there every single day and night, fighting against drugs. This is a faith that just doesn't talk about the value of education it impues in their children and their schools that education is the road to opportunity. A lesson that all americans can learn. And above and beyond all of those thank yous, I want to thank each and every one of you for being here. Not just the people up here and the people down there who had a chance to speak, but each and every one of you for being here.

And there are some extraordinary people here, who weren't invited, aren't members of the NOI and just came. Came because they wanted to be here, and they wanted to make a statement. And, I don't want to take the risk of singling out people because we can be here forever. But two are exceptional enough and I didn't expect to see them here and I want to mention them.one is Bob Butera the director of our convention center. Bob is in the fourth row didn't have to be here, not his fight, many people he knows wouldn't be here for $1k and yet Bob came. The other is Dr. Fred Capshaw, who stands before me the leader of our community college. Who understands by the diversity of community college that that diversity can be a great strength to all of us.

And I appreciate Fred and Bob and every one of you for being here because your presence, your presence speaks louder than all the words we can say. Your presence shows that you care about talking about our differences, trying to do something about our differences, about talking the next step on the long road to ending racism and bigotry not just in PA throughout america.

:wow: Umm, your response Senator?

108. ah, the glory of a circular firing squad is
how it keeps on keeping on 'till last man or woman standing, or rather, leaning against the wall twitching spasmodically while the lifeblood drains.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at this fiasco of a Democratic primary. I can tell you how it looks to me up in Canada, tho'. It looks like McCain's path to the white house is being cleared of every tiny obstacle by all sides, including his supposed opponents.

I speak to Obama supporters. I don't see how anyone politically active on this kind of blog could be undecided, at this point, or how any newfound argument (except sheer numbers as the primary votes come in) can change anyone's mind. So I argue what I consider to be a sound pro-Obama POV.

When I saw the clips of Hillary on Olbermann I shuddered and, quite frankly, I see little difference between her and any standard Republican. Her campaign is tightly linked with Charlie Black, and by that directly to John McCain, and it's impossible to get around that. At this point I find it very difficult to listen to her and I have to turn the sound way down so it's somewhat bearable. I no more expect her to get the US out of Iraq than I expect McCain to deliver on a great new healthcare plan -- 6 of one, 1/2 doz of the other, political talk is cheap when political memory is absent. But still, she IS a Democrat in name. I was under the impression that the progressive left was coalescing out of the Democratic party, and that progressives, tending to be thinkers rather than reactors, knew in their bones just how hard a job it'd be to turn that antique machine around -- to oust the Lieberman clones and rally the country around a new narrative, a new or renewed set of ideas, a new or renewed vision. How can that be done by destroying the party entirely? How can that be done if everyone on every side turns into a mini-Rove looking for dirt that'll stick? The kind of dirt the MSM likes so much when it can be used against Dems? You don't beat the enemy within by wandering onto the enemies preferred ground zero and taking poison as some kind of prophylactic to ward off the enemy's coming nukes. You beat the enemy within, the Liebermanns et al, by systematically moving the battle to the new progressive ground where progressive ideas can be nurtured and given a fair shake. And where the nukes, when they come (they'll be sure to come), might possibly be dealt with.

Isn't that what Obama is trying to do? Isn't that why he explicitly distinguishes this internal primary campaign vs Clinton from the coming GE vs McCain? Isn't that what he's telling his supporters?

oh well, 'nuff said.

I think it's rather funny myself. See where all this guilt-by-association garbage gets you? I guess we'll never have a candidate that is good enough for everyone, because people who make it to the presidential level, have probably come into contact with at least a few shady characters along the way. It's how it's done.
