The Unwritten Story Behind Superdelegate Support: MONEY
It's always to the benefit of a presidential candidate to raise a mountain of cash, because that cash finds its way into the coffers of superdelegates' campaign war chests.

The dirty little secret of superdelegate support is that their endorsement typically comes with a price: a payment from the candidate's PAC to the superdelegate for his or her next election. It's one of the unwritten loopholes of campaign financing, and believe me, the benefit is shared mutually between politicians, especially if the nube happens to make his or her way into office.

If you want to read more about it, here's a February article by Robert Schlesinger of Huffington Post:

Superdelegate endorsements: Money talks and politicians squawk.

1. This is a bit untrue
Many many many of the superdelegates are NOT elected officials. They are ordinary people who have been elected (or named) to the DNC. They pay their own way to meetings. They are active in their state parties. They get NOTHING for their support.

This article is unfair to those hard working activists who care deeply for the Party and the direction the country is headed.
