24. My problem is with the phrase "some claim"

All too often it's used as a way to get a smear in on a candidate. Turd-blossom or a surrogate would leek some untrue rumor "off the record" to a reporter, who would publish it, which in turn would allow the leaker to claim "some people say". I don't want to develop a knee-jerk reaction to the phrase, but it does make me reach for the bullshit detector.

They aren't going to back your candidate if she's imposed as if the nomination was just hers by liege right.
