As a "latte drinking" liberal from a state that doesn't matter
I am sick and tired of being shat on from the media and the Clinton campaign.

Latte drinking liberals like me donate as much money as we can afford to democratic candidates, local and national. We canvas and make phone calls and put up signs. We work our butts off for the party every election.

I understand that the Democratic party has problems winning the votes of certain demographics. But I am getting really pissed at those trying fix the problem by belittling MY demographic.

Oh, and by the way, I'm from Virginia. And grass roots, latte drinking liberal activists like me are helping to turn the state bluer every election cycle. If we can do it, there are a lot of other states that can do it too.

Believe me, every state matters.

1. Here, here, from another Virginia "latte liberal"
If it weren't for the latte liberals in Northern Virginia, the state would be as red as Mississippi! We're working hard to turn the state blue and I am sick and tired of being demonized by Clinton and her supporters, both for being young and for fitting some of the stereotypes of the "latte liberal" (though I don't actually drink lattes).

3. Hello fellow Virginia Democrat!
So what do you think about all the talk of an Obama/Webb ticket?

Although I think Webb would be great, I'd hate to lose him as a Senator...not sure who we could get to replace him...

17. Not sure I like the idea
Webb has only been in the Senate 2 years...could bolster the inexperience meme, although Webb did serve as Secretary of the Navy. But I'd be worried about retaining the seat if he became VP...plus, I think picking a VP with military creds is a bad idea for Obama, because that increases the focus on military issues, which is a bad thing for either Democrat. We can't win on national security...John Kerry, a decorated war veteran, lost 85-14 among voters who said security/terrorism were their most important issues. Either Obama or Clinton would get clobbered by McCain among those voters...the last thing we need to do is emphasize the issue by picking a military vp.

2. Here Here... Another Latte Liberal from a Big Blue state that doesn't matter.
IL... And I'll be knocking on doors throughout my area all summer in a once bleeding red district, to ensure that our newly elected congressman retains his seat, and that we seat as many dems as we can in other races.

4. I lived in northern VA from 1976 to 1985 and I was eager to move to a blue state.
I was particularly enraged that VA was one of the 3 key states to block the Equal Rights Amendment from passage in the states. VA's state lege tied the ERA up in committee to ensure that it would not be brought to a vote in time for the deadline. I truly felt that I did not belong in a state that wouldn't give me and my 2 daughters equal rights under our Constitution. My move to CT (to get remarried)was a tremendous relief. My daughters went to college in Massachusetts and never went back to VA to live.

I'm glad you hardworking liberal dems are out there helping to make VA blue. You deserve a lot of credit. It's wonderful to know that VA will hopefully vote blue in 08.

Good luck to you!

8. Thank you! Unfortunately, VA still have a ways to go.
In the 2006 election cycle that voted in Jim Webb (which was good!), there was a disgusting so called "Marriage Amendment" on the ballot that also passed. That was heartbreaking.

My daughter is in college in MA right now! She loves it there and I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't come back to VA, either.

9. Which college does she attend?
My daughters went to Mount Holyoke and Northeastern, respectively. One now lives outside of Boston and the other in Los Angeles.

It's too bad in a way that our kids won't go back (my son, also, went to Columbia in NY and now lives in NYC). All of my family are living in the bluest of states, as I am! Too bad in that you guys could use some support with your efforts.

12. She's at MIT (loves cambridge) but mails her votes into VA!

So she'll do her part for a few more years.

She's also an activist (minus the latte) knocking on doors and passing out literature in 2004 & 2006!

Proud...

15. Good for her!
If she is like my kids, she'll get used to the liberal atmosphere in MA and will want to stay in that atmosphere. I'm in New Haven and recently retired. I couldn't imagine being in anything less progressive than what I have here! My CA daughter has an equally left leaning atmosphere which she loves. My son is thrilled to live in Manhattan (altho he is a prosecutor in Brooklyn).

That trend really irks me. I think some people in her campaign need a subtle reminder:

:D

Recommended, and good luck turning VA a pretty shade of blue. :)

She has the temerity to call someone elitist?

What would she call herself, a common woman?

14. I home roast the finest Fair Trade Coffee in the world
and make the finest Latte' you will EVER DRINK.

Costs me less than one dollar per cup and guess what?

No children are enslaved...

I do, however, like to loiter in Artsy Cafe's and covertly ogle liberated women...

BTW, speaking of liberated women, Clinton was looking very compassionate last night... did you notice?

I was oddly aroused...

18. What Really Sucks
is that it's Okay to criticize the "lattes". But say something about "ordinary citizens", who live in the "heartland" and the world comes crashing down.
