I'm an Agnostic and I'm a good person. So sue me.
I'm getting the willies from all this Jesus and Holy Spirit talk on the "Compassion" Forum.

Hillary's personal relationship with God makes me wonder why the hell she doesn;t listen to him more.

But to be honest, I suspect Obama will give me the willies too when he gets into his Jesus rap.

Just have to say that.

2. It's also supposed to cover their views on AIDS and poverty,
maybe other topics. IOW, it won't all be about religion, if that helps.

"I have my own views about religion, and it's not of your damn business. It won't affect my performance on the job one way or the other."

16. I totally hate that shit. Whatever happened to the "no religious test for office" thing
Edited on Sun Apr-13-08 07:46 PM by scarletwoman
in the Constitution?

I want a candidate who says, "You know what? My spiritual beliefs are none of your damn business!"

Absent that, I would settle for Liberation Theology.

Absent that, I guess I'll settle for the least obnoxious religious panderer.

And given no escape from obnoxious religious pandering, I'll still take Obama over Clinton because Clinton is a DLCer. When I'm stuck with wanting anybody but Clinton, I guess that lands me in the Obama camp.

But I still think this whole religious thing stinks.

17. There is no religious test.....
However, being prejudiced against atheists and agnostics is still widely acceptable.....Heaven forbid, our "loose morals" would be unleashed on the populace. :P

18. I appreciate you humor -- "loose morals", indeed.
However, these days it really DOES seem that any candidate for any office must, at a bare minimum, go to great pains to proclaim that they ARE religious.

I'm old enough to remember when candidates' religion NEVER came up at all -- except when JFK was running for office. And HE had to go to great lengths to assure people that his religion would NOT have any bearing on how he conducted himself in office.

This religion thing has done a complete 180 from those days. I really do hate it.

22. his reply, which I've heard him say before, was great
we people of faith have to be able to translate our actions based on faith in a way that people who believe differently can understand.

We can't be saying "I have a direct line to god so you have to do it my way"

24. Classy..........
Part of what I like about him.......... Considering the forum, and the fact that he knows there's not a whole lot of atheists watching this.....he still acknowledges that there are non-religious people in the country, and that we have just as much right of a say in democracy as the religious folk do.............. It would've been so easy for him to completely disregard our existence in that closing remark.... :)

And I'm glad to support a proud, but reasonable Christian.

Christians no longer frighten me.

26. Agnostics are good, religion doesn't always make a difference
in how people treat others or lead a country.

I don't like injecting this kind of thing in elections, its been a disaster so many times before and only ends up hurting people.
