Poll: Pa. women ditching Hillary
By McClatchy-Tribune- Boston Herald
Saturday, April 12, 2008

A Quinnipiac University survey taken April 3-6 in Pennsylvania found that Clinton’s support fell 6 percentage points in a week among white women. Nationally, a Lifetime Networks poll of women found that 26 percent said they liked Clinton less now than in January, while only 15 percent said they liked her more.

“These are Democratic women who waited all their lives for a woman president, but Hillary is not turning them on,” said polling analyst Clay Richards.

The Clinton campaign is aware of the danger, and last week it began dispatching friends of Clinton from New York, Washington and elsewhere to key Pennsylvania communities to have “living room chats” with women.

Economic concerns are at the top of most women’s lists, and “Obama is coming across to more and more people as qualified on that issue,” Richards

7. NAFTA & The Clintons: Is gonna come back and bite them in their
collective butt

Clinton's record shows trade support

Source: LA Times

On the trail, the candidate has made a point of critiquing free trade agreements, saying they cost U.S. jobs.

WASHINGTON -- Campaigning across Pennsylvania and other sections of the Rust Belt in recent months, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has stressed her determination to put a hold on trade agreements, which she says are costing American jobs.

And last weekend, she demoted her chief campaign strategist after news reports that he did private lobbying work on behalf of a free trade pact with Colombia that Clinton opposes.
Yet Clinton's voting record in the Senate only hints at the skepticism about international trade deals that she recently has made a cornerstone of her presidential campaign.

Since 2001, Clinton has backed pacts with Jordan, Chile, Singapore, Australia, Morocco and Oman that were opposed by numerous labor, farming and environmental groups concerned that the deals contained insufficient safeguards for American workers and consumers.

As recently as November, Clinton supported a free trade agreement negotiated by the Bush administration with Peru.

15. Get your Chocolate Bars in Mexico- Hershey

.
North American Free Trade Agreement.
Supported by Hillary Clinton.
As First Lady, she held several meetings to win support for it.

Bill Clinton signed it into law.
It took effect January, 1994.
It was negotiated by George Bush, Sr.

Bill Clinton envisioned a MILLION new jobs for Americans.
It didn't happen. What did happen?
Every state in the US, all 50, LOST jobs.

Unemployment. Massive unemployment.
Where did the jobs go?
The jobs went South of the Border.
To Mexico.

In the USA, a manufacturing worker makes
on average, $18.51 per hour.
In Mexico, how much does the average worker make?
$1.51 per hour.

You do the math.

Where you gonna hire a worker, with wage differentials like that?
In Mexico you can get 10 workers for the price of 1 US worker.
Who is the latest company to go South of the Border?

Hershey.

No more Peppermint Patties made in Reading, Pennsylvania.
The company is moving to Monterrey, Mexico.
Lock, stock and barrel. Wouldn't you too?

6. This middle-aged, white woman - contrary to polling trends - ditched HRC from DAY ONE.
;) The Clintons seriously underestimate the insight and savvy of the Average American Woman.

Yes, please come on over to Obama because he stands up for *all* who have been disenfranchised and discounted by the D.C. Power Elites of both parties. :hi:

8. Count me in that crowd, too.
She has disappointed me ever since she got to the senate. Just think what would have happened had she voted against the IWR and actually tried to educate the American people on the facts. But she didn't even bother to read the NIE.

10. This middle aged Black women ditched her from Day One too

I agree with you.

And, as an African American woman, we are not counted as "women" in the surveys.

Most lump African Americans (men and women) as simple AA's.

11. here is another...
white, 66-year old female - I have been in Senator Obama's corner since Day One. He is truly a breath of fresh air and sunshine.

It is very gloomy today where I live - dark clouds everywhere - seems Hillary and McSame would fit in very well here.

22. This isn't surprising.
The more people see of her, the less they like her.

I'd say her campaign was doomed, but it's about two months too late to even bother.
