Poll: Many women agree with Ferraro on media's treatment of Obama & Clinton
Excerpt:

Lifetime Television's "Every Woman Counts" project just released some new polling data. According to a national survey of 500 women, done by pollsters Kellyanne Conway (a Republican) and Celinda Lake (a Democrat):

• 41% thought Democratic Sen. Barack Obama has received "more positive" news coverage because he is an African-American. Of the rest, 27% said the coverage has been "neutral," 20% said it has been "more negative" because of his race and 12% said they didn't know.

1. Ferraro should be wearing white sheets and run around burning crosses

She is a total bigot!

I am sorry I voted for her when she ran with Mondale, and I kick myself in the ass for having been excited about her candidacy.

5. And you left wing kooks are full of it.
Ferraro was pointing out that Obama was the first truly viable AA candidate for the presidency and that is (understandably) why in part so much attention is being given to his campaign.

19. I am a moderate.
There better be room in the party for us. If not, the party will not be winning any elections anytime soon.

See how it all balances out?

6. Uhm, so this means 47% believe Obama's race has hurt him or not benefited him at all.
Which means a plurality of women do not agree with Ferraro.

8. Ferraro is an idiot because the exact same argument she made for Obama can be made against her gal
Hillary.

"He is where he is because he is black"

Oh yeah? Hillary is where she is because she has a vagina and her last name is Clinton. How does that sound?

9. Then count *this* woman!
I will not be silent. Ferraro's words were highly offensive--but she & Clinton knew that. It was all quite deliberate and calculated.

15. Oh for God's sake -
GF said it to a weekly newspaper reporter in a small town in California as she was leaving the hall after giving a speech about herself. It was a non story. Obama's campaign with their constant and frantic googling found it and decided to elevate it to the national level because it fit in with their race baiting strategy. It took three weeks of pressure from David Axelrod on the press before the msm ran the non-story.

It was not a Clinton campaign strategy. It had absolutely nothing to do with Hillary.

You should be silent - your ignorance is showing.

10. I find Ms. Ferraro a very sad woman. Her career was killed
by her husband and the pols around her. She has had a hard life. That does not excuse her remarks.

13. Here's why Barack is viewed more favorably
HRC is a warmongering, phony, power-mad asshole. I don't care if she's male, female, or something akin to mAnn Coulter.

And what kind of delusional morons think being black makes the public view a man more favorably? Racism may not be what it once was, but it's sure alive and well.

...41% of the women they surveyed are idiots. Well, huge surprise ~~ NOT. This is LIFETIME TV. Ck out their line-up sometime and IMO it becomes obvious why there is such a high percentage of idiots!

Obama HAS received more positive press than Hillary. It took an SNL skit for the light to finally dawn on how the media has been in the tank for Obama.

21. Ferraro is NOT a female role model
Edited on Fri Apr-11-08 12:22 PM by SoCalDem
she wasn't "BACK THEN" and she's not now..

She was a TOKEN..and she even admitted it then. It was a stunt that backfired because it was oh-so-obvious..just as the Condoleezza thing would be for mccain.

A woman who becomes famous because of her family (or by the MEN in her family) is not a role model for women's rights..

People like the woman who started ebay or the woman who started MaryKay Cosmetics or any number of women who refused to hear "NO", and went on and did it themselves..and succeeded.. THOSE are role models for women's liberation..NOT some rich, well-connected politician who arrived on the coattails of the male members of her family,..

Women teachers who tirelessly teach (or try to) kids, decade after decade, and who are visited by and remembered by those grown up kids...role models

Women office workers who selflessly mentor younger women in the office...role models

Barbara Mikulski....role model

Carolyn Mccarthy...role model

When a woman like these women, steps up and runs for president, she will be received as a true model for the women's movement...

It takes more than ovaries and a beardless face to make a deserving female candidate
