This campaign has been a disaster for both sides. Long before the kitchen sink attack started the general consensus here was that both the Obama and the Clinton crowd were a bit aggressive and the nice guy in the race was Edwards. There was always the potential for this from both sides and hints of it from both even before, but it stayed fairly low keyed until that kitchen sink attack started.

Once one side started swinging we had the equivalent of two street gangs, neither of who were willing to take any crap but only one of which fired the first shots in a war they declared. Doesn't make either of them nice given what we've seen so far, but I'd lay the blame on the one who started swinging that kitchen sink. When you're being hit with one and it's an aggressive crowd to start with the general reaction is to swing back with one.

It was the wrong way to campaign against another dem and it's done nothing but hurt both of them since. If we lose the next election I'll lay the blame entirely on that. When you've got two aggressive crowds both need to keep their cool, once one starts swinging hard we're off to the races and nobody and nothing can stop it.
