Hillary's Super Ice Cream Delegates are melting away
Edited on Thu Apr-10-08 02:37 AM by grantcart
Gathered by various sources and reported by Demconwatch - the most authoritative source of delegate details (some classifcations are mine)

Keeping up with today's odd ball theme of our favorite dairy treat further examination of Super Delegate trends show that Hillary's support continues to soften.
Is there any better metaphor for Hillary's campaign?

I Recent Defections
DNC Huguenin CA http://www.ledger-dispatch.com/news/newsview.asp?c=240138 from Hillary to undecided
DNC Thomas DC http://www.examiner.com/a-1326716~D_C__councilman_no_longer_member_of_Clinton_camp.html from Hillary to undecided
DNC Logan UT http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=89408886 from Hillary to undecided

II Pelosi Club (some are different than Demconwatch's more literal standard)
These are folks who have made comments that make it clear that they are going to vote for the candidate with the most pledge delegates. Obama is now only 212 pledged delegates away from this number (He only needs 37% of the remaining pledged delegates for this:

Folks supporting Clinton who have made it clear that they will support the delegate leader in Denver:

Sen. Cantwell WA

These are the ones listed as neutral who have made it clear that they will support the delegate leader in Denver:

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (CA)
Christine Pelosi (CA)
Gov. Roy Romer (CO)
Betty Richie (TX)
Denise Johnson (TX)
Donna Brazile (DC)
Rep. Chris Van Hollen (MD)

III Clinton Super Delegates who have indicated that they do not want to have a floor fight to overturn the interests of the majority of voters or pledged delegates

Sen Schumer (NY) http://ruralvotes.com/thefield/?p=642
Rep Rengel (NY) http://ruralvotes.com/thefield/?p=642
Gov Corzine (NJ) http://thepage.time.com/video-scarborough-on-corzines-comments/
Joe Andrew (IN) http://talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/186196.php
Rep Cleaver (MO) http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/04/01/clinton-backer-obama-will-win/
Rep. Lynn Woolsey (D-Petaluma)

IV Add on Delegates
There are a total of 81 Add on Super Delegates filling positions at the state level. So far 6 out of 7 Add ons who have announced have endorsed Obama.

V. Guys we know are going for Obama.

There are a bunch of Super Delegates that are going for Obama but we can't count them because either there statement isn't explicit (Carter) or they are strong Obama supporters waiting for final steps to become a super delegate.

And here we have a graph of an ice cream cone melting:

Governors Senators Reps. DPL DNC Add-Ons Total

Clinton . . . 10 . . . . . 13 . . . 73. . 10. . 138 . . 1. . . . . 245

1. Fix your first image.
Don't pull random images off the net man. Look for images that give open permission for use and hot linking.

11. There seems to be a large number of delegates 30-40 who are waiting for
a decisive victory. The rumor is that had Obama won Texas outright in the popular vote that would have triggered it.

It is now thought that a Pennsylvania victory would do the same. The reasoning is that this are all firm for Obama but they do not want to extinguish the first credible campaign by a woman to be President by 'out muscling' her. If there is a decisive victory in a spot where it was widely unexpected then they feel that the cover of 'presumptive nominee' would suffice in giving them the flexibility to move.

14. Word is that in Texas, we will get certification of primary results next week
We have 3 districts in the "really really close" category -- including mine!

Interested to see if there will be much if any change.

22. State convention will finalize the split for caucuses
This will finalize results for the primary vote on March 4. The one that is currently split 65-61 Hillary but could change net 4 for Obama (63-63) depending on the number of provisionals and absentees in critical districts

15. Obama picks up another super delegate
CHICAGO, IL—Utah Democratic Party Chair and Democratic superdelegate Wayne Holland today endorsed Barack Obama, citing his ability to energize the Democratic Party and plan to strengthen the economy.
“Sen. Obama has helped to energize our State Party,” said Holland. “Obama was clearly the choice of Utah Democrats on Feb. 5 and is the choice of the majority of Utah Democratic candidates to head the ticket in November. While it is not only important for me to reflect the sentiment of our Party, I also have a responsibility to endorse the candidate whom I believe will help unite the many voices of our ‘big tent’ Utah Party and help us build for the future

18. Hillary picks up a super delegate
Former Pittsburgh Mayor Sophie Masloff will endorse Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton when the New York senator appears this evening for the Allegheny County Democratic Party's Jefferson-Jackson Dinner at Heinz Field.

"It's been very difficult for me to sit on the sidelines and fail to support a woman," said Mrs. Masloff, a Democratic superdelegate who had been neutral in the presidential race. "For a long time, I was convinced I shouldn't make a public choice. We have two wonderful candidates. But finally, I just couldn't sit on the fence."

Terrible endorsement. Couldn't she at least have mentioned a policy position?

"Fail to support a woman".

Yikes!

21. Here's an FYI on Betty Ritchie
She's the wife of Boyd Ritchie, the TDP chair. If she said that somewhere, chances are good that he thinks the same. ;)

Plus, he's going to be up for re-election this year at a largely pro-Obama convention. :)
