*****THIS JUST IN: Obama still unelectable despite polling better (winning) vs. McCain than Clinton
Edited on Wed Apr-09-08 09:36 AM by dmsRoar
Gallup:
Obama 51, Clinton 43

Obama 45, McAssIsGrass 44
McConfusedonIraq 46, Clinton 46

Obama also outperforms Clinton nationally in the yesterday's Rasmussen, though neither Dem polls ahead of Mayor McCheese in these head-to-heads:
Obama 51, Clinton 40

Obama 45, McCan't 47
Clinton 43, McCuckoo 47

UPDATE thanks to POST #6 from AS below: today's Rasmussen has Obama UP on McChristmasIsNeverComing 46-45 and Clinton down to him 47-44!

Double-digit lead, but barely for Obama in NC. Another SUSA outlier or actual Clinton movement?
Obama 49, Clinton 39

We whomp the GOP in November.

Senator Obama is the likely nominee.

4. Yep. Obama's campaign has been sure-footed and smart from the
beginning, outflanking Sen. Clinton in Iowa, nearly defeating her in NH, and then running very strongly on Feb. 5th.

And shortly after that, he buried her in Wisconsin. Obama appears to have planned and planned well for the long haul; Clinton thought she'd have it in the bag by Feb. 5th.

5. There is no ambiguity on what the issue is, it is Iraq. mccain made his position very clear
open ended prescence in Iraq with likely expansion of the war into Iran

Either Democratic candidate will start getting us out of Iraq. Besides the immorality of this war based on a lie, the monetary cost we can't afford

The Supreme Court under a mccain verses either Democrat is quite clear. It will be a continuation of the bush policy

Whether it is social security, healthcare, jobs, we have never had a clearer choice

That the MSM even try to label mccain as a moderate, is absurd. His voting record is wide open as an extreme right winger

I hope the American public have finally had enough of the bush administration, because if they haven't, they will have a bush administration on meth with mccain

41. Seriously
After the corporate media takes their shots at our nominee and the electoral college does its voodoo, I will just be happy if the Dem nominee wins by 5 votes. This landslide talk is rather scary to me.

3. The GE race...
...hasn't even begun.

I don't believe any of these polls that match up the Dem candidates against McCain.

Both of our Dem candidates will take him to the cleaners.

It hasn't even begun yet.

These polls are utterly and completely useless.

Please remember that Dem primary attendance has increased 100 percent from the last primary.
This has not been true on the Republican primary side.

We'll have plenty of McCain/Dem nominee polls to evaluate---when the GE starts.

For now, these numbers mean absolutely nothing.

oh, and guess what, polls change throughout the year. That seems to be a shock to some. Trust me, if Hillary were running against Mccain, her numbers would plummet with her poorly thought out camapaign. Ohio's numbers will change. FLorida's may or may not for Obama, but Hillary would lose FL too if she would have been our nominee.

9. As long as we are in primaries and McShame is in GE
he will trend better.

Pollster, to Obama supporter: In a match up between Obama and McCain who will win?
Obama Supporter: Obama.
Pollster: And between Clinton and McCain?
Obama supporter: McCain

Pollster, to Cliinton supporter: In a match up between Obama and McCain who will win?
Obama Supporter: McCain.
Pollster: And between Clinton and McCain?
Obama supporter: Clinton.

Of the four responses, two favor McCain, while only one each favors Obama or Clinton.

Therefore, obviously, McCain is going to win.

Riiiight.

18. I think that the interesting thing about Obama is that it seems that the more the electorate gets to...
know him, the more his poll numbers improve. Hillary was pretty much a known entity with most voters, as is McCain. I think Obama's numbers will continue to improve as more people see/ hear him.

I'm a lifelong D, but I know a couple ex-republican Vietnam vets who now hate the whole republican machine for what they've done to the Veterans benefits. McCain loses votes every time this subject comes up.

They deserve a special place in hell, these Repubs....

I 'd vote for a woman. I just don't want to vote for Hillary.

24. How misleading can you get.
Obama outperforms Clinton in everyone of those polls that you posted, yet your subject line is "Obama still unelectable." A more correct interpretation of those polls would be "Obama more electable than Clinton."

I am getting sick and tired of Clinton supporters trying to parse words to make Clinton look better than she really is. When are these desperate disingenuous tactics ever going to stop?

Edited on Wed Apr-09-08 11:45 AM by crankychatter
that's why they want Clinton

I've been saying it for months, based on the polls

Only since Clinton went berserker was there a moderate drop for Obama v McCain in the General... her negatives went up and per polls, she still loses.

Obama still wins

He has an amazing ability to change polls... I think November could be the biggest landslide in US History, personally.

But Clinton may make sure that doesn't happen, by staying in despite no chance of winning the nomination. and depriving Obama of much needed campaign time. I think it's her handlers decision and NOT personal ambition. They'll jump ship and finance McCain in August. Just watch.

They know exactly what they're doing, and, they are NOT forgiven.
