Mad as Hell - Join the Protest - NYC 4/11 8AM
This first video is about the sexism in this campaign from beginning until now and is the best mashup I've yet to see.

The video title is Mad as Hell/Bitch

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcdnlNZg2iM

NYC Protest
The second video is calling for a protest event in NYC Friday, April 11 at 8AM. The event is at Rockefeller Plaza, the HQ of NBC. More details at the event webpage.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceym55Xlmzg

-------------------------------------------------------

Someone was too scared to post this in GDP, so I thought I'd do a good deed. Also, this was posted by a long lost DUer on the site linked.

You're welcome.

2. Well...
I think the idea for the video is a bit clever.

And my hat's off to anyone organizing a protest. It's hard work.

3. All this sexism in the media is going to hurt Obama if he wins the
nomination. Contray to the naysayers, the female vote is one of the largets voting blocs in the country. In my state alone, there is a movement to "stop the vote" signed by women who have pledged to stay home in November if Hillary is not the nominee because of media slurs. The last time I checked, there were over 300,000 names on the list. That is a lot of women in one state so imagine this spreading to other states.

62. I hope you try and talk them out of this.
Voting for whoever the Dem nominee is the only solution. I am not a fan of Hillary's but I will vote for her. There is just to much at stake, Iraq, Iran, Scotus, federal judges, economy. Mcshame will screw us over on every single one of these issues. I for one am not willing to take that chance.

95. No subject change.
I said I would vote for the Dem nominee. I then asked if you would, after you replied to my response to someone else. Do you think it is more important for a Dem to win than Mcshame? That is the only thing that matters. If you feel that Hillary has been unfairly attacked then that is fine, just as my feeling that Obama has been unfairly attacked. The question still remains, are you going to vote for the Dem nominee no matter who it is?

44. I hope those 300,000 women remember the Supreme Court
and the fact that two liberal justices are hanging on by their fingernails. But no, they'd rather take the chance of losing the right to a safe, legal abortion if their candidate doesn't get the nomination.

Support your candidate of choice in the primary. If they don't win, suck it up and support the DEM nominee in November!

84. Not voting for the democratic nominee this fall is passive support for McCain
Not voting for the democratic nominee this fall guarantees four more years of failed policies: more conservatives on the SCOTUS, more war, more economic disaster, more job loss, more ignoring of global warming. And these people would invite this disaster upon us all because voters did not pick the woman in the race?

Passive agression is NOT mature. Get it? It's not just about Hillary.

I support Obama for president. I've no beef with Hillary supporters on this board. But anyone who is NOT VOTING FOR A DEMOCRAT this fall or openly supports those who think that would be a cute plan should get the HELL off this board.

68. Good to know that they don't cherish the Woman's Movement
How petty and selfish of them to set the woman's movement back into the dark ages if THEY choose to sit at home and not vote for the Democratic nominee.

Oh, well these women will show us. They'll show us how stupid they really are when it comes to women's rights:shrug:

There are already two Supreme Court justices who are Corporate Judges. McCaineyBush will seat some more if he wins. But you and the other 300,000 sit it out and don't complain when you're rights are gone.

83. How foolish
These women are hurting themselves and the future of their children by signing such a pledge. I too am totally offended by the sexism displayed in the media and I speak as a 50-something white woman who's personally experienced sexism. BUT, I am not so deluded as to think that because sexism has been displayed and amply documented, that that means that Hillary must be the President.

Hillary must win the presidency on her own merits. That sexism has reared its ugly head once again does not mean that the presidency must be given to Hillary as a consolation prize. People focused on the sexism should instead do a better job of selling Hillary on her merits.

In my opinion, though she is a good candidate, Obama is better. There are a number of items that support that view, IMO, which I will not go into here. The point is that the decision about who should be president needs to be made WITHOUT REGARD TO GENDER. Those women who are signing these pledges are headed in the wrong direction and anyone who supports them in doing so is not helping them.

When Obama wins the nomination, Hillary will, WILL, turn around and graciously commit all her support to Obama.

Are her supporters going to be less gracious? Are her supporters going to fail to follow her example? Sure sounds like that's what is being proposed here and Hillary will be the first one to tell you that it's wrong.

40. Because it's ridiculous. It's a "Protest" for Clinton, not a "Rally" for Clinton
It's funny. Desperate, too. Instead of a public rally, they call a protest. It's just in line with where her supporters have been going - she's not winning, so the solution must be to protest, instead of to rally in her support.

That's the last serious comment I intend to make on the subject. Can't wait for the video.

53. Wrong thought.
It's about media coverage, not unfair elections.

61. That was added later -- after the original invite went out
Read the "why" -- it is a protest against "unfair elections".

If they are so all-fired concerned about media bias, where were they when Edwards and Kooch were ignored?

Face it -- it is a convention of low information voters who are worshiping at the feet of someone who is within 2 weeks of dropping out of the race.

65. If you take a minute to read through the tripe on that site
You will know exactly why the media calls her base "low information voters".

70. Hey. I watched it and I was moved.
This video was a pretty good pro-Hill piece overall, does a good job of getting a point across. I'm still not a 3rd way kind of guy. So I'm sticking with Obama.

72. It's a shame they
have resorted to playing on the emotions of women who believe Hillary is the best they can do. These same people believe that nothing was wrong with the MSM's treatment of Obama via the Wright situation. They also see nothing wrong with the MSM's treatment of Obama in regards to the race issue. Hillary being a woman works for her because women are 50% of the population. Barack's race works against him and for Hillary as evidenced in a recent poll asking that question. These same people dismiss the AA vote saying that AA's are "only" voting for Obama because he is black, as if AAs are brainless twits or something. It is highly insulting. I could say these women are only voting for Hillary because she is a woman. This would be equally stupid. But judging propagandistic videos like this, where Hillary's gender is the sole focal point, I have no choice but to conclude this is the basis for a lot of her support...the fact she is a woman. It works for her. If Hillary was John Edwards, would she be getting this same support from these women? I doubt it.

Hillary would be thrown out of the race if she weren't who she is...and she is very lucky this is the case.

Anyway.

73. I am a 66-year old female
I have voted since the days of John, Bobby, and Martin. I am in the age group Hillary depends upon for votes. I watched both of these videos. I have to say I am appalled that women would go to this extreme to support a candidate just because she is a woman. What audacity! Who in God's name do you think you are? I wish I was close enough to attend this rally - and do not put any other spin on it - it is a rally! It is not going to be a rally in protest of media bias, but a rally of despair! I would hold up a sign that said, "I am DAMNED ashamed of these women!" My, God, by the time the media gets done, Hillary and her supporters are going to look like idiots! The media is biased against Hillary? If not, they will be by the time this farce is over. I am sorry, but this is not the March on Washington. This is strictly a march in hopes of garnishing support for Hillary in the last desperate days of this campaign. I would suggest you women wear bags over your heads so the media cannot identify you - when you get home you do not want other people knowing how you are - they will laugh in your face. And you will accomplish just the opposite of what you set out to do - you will lose more votes for Hillary. OMG how dumb!

78. The first video sure brings back memories. That was the women's movement of my youth.
Edited on Tue Apr-08-08 04:36 AM by McCamy Taylor
And all those guys on the MSM are the ugly male chauvinist pigs of my youth, too. Who would have thought that kind of talk was still allowed. For shame.

I think a protest is in order. I wish I was going to be in NYC. I would picket all the networks. Maybe I should call my mom and see if she wants to fly in with me from Texas. This could be a once in a lifetime event.

80. oh, waaah, clinton is losing, we must "protest" that the voters aren't voting for her
oh, boo hoo, life is SOOOOO unfair!! the delegates can't be convinced to go against the will of the voters, and the voters JUST DON'T LIKE HILLARY!!

I'm sure a "protest" is really going to convince people to vote for Hillary.
and everyone is going to feel sooo sorry for her, the way the media is so "sexist" in giving her 24/7 coverage.
Gee, maybe we former Kucinich supporters might have had a shot, eh? if we had organized a protest against the media, and gone to the delegates on our knees, begging.

apparently NOTHING embarrasses her or her supporters. Desperation is now "cool," I guess.
